Re: Positive Builder/Company Stories
Guess I'll toss mine in here too.
Brian @ SS/BS: What's to be said that hasn't been said already? Plus, it's always fun catching his band when they come through. Last time they were in Dallas we all just sat around talking bands and gear. Good times.
Skully @ Dirge: The dude is teaching me how to build pedals, does it get cooler than that? Plus, he's pretty much the cheeriest dude I've ever met.
Matt @ Noisemaker Effects: Matt is nothing but awesome and friendly. He has helped me pick stuff every time I've wanted to order, given recommendations and been super cool all around.
Ryan @ Fuzzrocious: Super nice guy, always beaten his projected date when I've ordered direct from him.
Tell you what, ILF seems to attract a certain type of awesome builders. My only regret is that I haven't bought something from every single ILF builder.

Brian @ SS/BS: Genuinely awesome dude. We've talked a few times about pedals and me getting Dirge started again, and he just had some really insightful words that we amazingly helpful.
Ben @ Verellen: Suuuuuuper fast email turn around, super nice guy, amazingly easy to work with and listened to all of my crazy ideas in constructing my cab for me. Also very awesome craftsmanship.
Tom @ Fuzzhugger: Another builder with amazing insight, kind words, and advice.
Ryan @ Doc Sci: One of the nicest dudes ever, quick response time, speedy shipping!
Officer Bukowski: Amazing craftsmanship, all around nice dude and a pleasure to deal with.
DannDoublewe: Amazing craft, super speedy email response, amazing turnaround time, super nice guy!

Re: Positive Builder/Company Stories
I haven't ever had any issues where I needed to return or repair something I got from a builder (save for one below!) nor have I ever ordered anything custom.
But I have had some very pleasant/easy emails with :
Earthquaker
Malekko
Egnater amps - my amp totally quit working. Every time I contacted Egnater, I got the same nice dude answering all my questions and walking me through what to do. My amp was at the shop for ~2 months but as far as I know, it was the fault of the shop and not Egnater.
Prolly others that I can't remember right now
This is excluding any ILF interaction with any builders here which has always been positive, hosted builders, shark tank, or builders with an account here.
This too!

Re: Positive Builder/Company Stories
Damn it! Since everyone else is elborating, I guess I will too!
Tom at Fuzzhugger-Built me a custom pedal and made it amazing! Sent me a new pedal when I wasn't happy with a Fuzzhugger (non Fuzzhugger pedal) purchase. Very nice guy, always been super polite and easy going.
Brian at SS/BS-Gave me his cell phone number and didn't make me feel like a jerk off when we both kind of realized I fucked my 4545 up. He then made me a custom pedal and has done a few other custom/one offs for me. LOVE Brian. Cool as shit dude.
Ryan at Dr. Scientist-Dude is awesome! He made me a custom pedal at a killer price when he said he didn't make custom pedals! LOL! Amazing guy! Great business man! Also LOVE!
Taylor at Iron Ether-Down to earth dude who answered all my dumb question about a PCB I bought from him. Even helped me figure the build out and get it to work correctly. Great guy. Always a pleasure.
Alan at Mountainking-Took awhile to answer my e-mail, but awesome dude. Killer pedals. He offered to mod a pedal for me to make it more friendly for my active bass.
There's more. I just can't think. My bone is too hard right now.

Re: Positive Builder/Company Stories
Wait I lied. I have gotten one custom one-off pedal before.
Robbie from Foot Fetish pedals built me a pedal similar to another that he only made ten of. It was super cheap, sounds great, and has awesome art on it! He was very easy to work with even though the first time I brought it up to him, I didn't have any money for it :/

Re: Positive Builder/Company Stories
I've never had to deal with repairs or had any custom stuff either, but I've had generally great experiences dealing with ILF builders. Tom gave me a pedal with a rad finish as a trade (how many builders do that? too cool), skully just helped me sort out a dirge pedal even though I didn't get it from him, really nice guy.

Re: Positive Builder/Company Stories
I am glad this thread is filled with great stories. I suppose I'll add some more.
ANOTHER DIRGE SKULLSERVANT STORY: haha, no but this dude deserves it. I made a trade with him awhile back for the first stampede, when he showed me the pedal it had a volume for the SHO side, a flipswitch for oscillation, a starve knob, and gain for the double gloom drive. When I got it in the mail, it had two more knobs added on the side and a second flipswitch. Now its my go to oversaturated-lets just kick out the heavy jamz fuzz box.
I have had super quick email correspondence with Kyle from Blackout.
I had a great trade deal with Ryan way back when, got a custom vinyl finished sunny day delay. Picked out the led colors and what not. It was a rad experience getting a Dr. Scientist pedal with your own specific color/design combo.
And of course, Tom has always been helpful and generous.

Austin from Lightfoot Labs: Awesome guy! I chatted with him and got an awesome deal on a blem goatkeeper, he kept in contact with me while he was building it, sent me a finished shot once he was done, shipped it super fast AND gave me free shipping. Not to mention that he was extremely quick to answer any email that I sent him.

Re: Positive Builder/Company Stories
Thomas Dal-Toan-Oh, sweet, sweet Thomas. I joined the board as Devi was passing the torch to Tom, and will say that my first ILF (non-Devi)purchases were for a Phantom Octave, a Velcroar, and a Mellowtone Mini Wolf CPU, which I purchased from Fuzzhugger. Tom had JUST come out with this sick little one knob critter called the Phantom Octave-PHANTOM octave, with this nifty little blue and silver stock graphic and a flashing BLUE LED. He made a thread about it in his subforum. First run of what would evolve into the Phantom Ring, the Phantom Ring Oscillator (you're welcome for that, ILF. I ordered a Phantom Ring and asked if Tom could make one that oscillates), and ultimately, the Phantom Arcade, then the Pocket Arcade, and even a Phantom Flower. Anywho, back to the very first incarnation of the Phantom Octave. Tom had sold out. I was devastated. This pedal, which seemed to have been made just for me, the Bluest of Ghosts, was sold out. I could have wept. What'd he do? He gave me a smooch on my bald spot and said "there, there little Specter. I'll put in extra shop hours and build one more for you". I never forgot that, never will. Love the guy, as a builder and as a dude.
Copilot Adam-I wanted a Gyroscope so fuckin' bad it hurt. Funds was low at that time, so I took a chance, and asked about a blem-o-scope. And the blem was so miniscule that I coulda flipped it as a newish pedal. It took so much off the price that I paid extra for quicker shipping. From the Dominican Republic. And it arrived when? Less than a week. Sent me an email shortly thereafter, asking me how I liked it. Then cordially invited me to participate in the Orbit and Caracol tourboxes. Tops.
Dr. Ryan-tist: Never bought a pedal from him, never even got a chance to play one of his creations. But he's a good buddy, always funny, friendly, and has purchased my music. Ryan is all class. Pizza and joints for everybody!
And I'm in the midst of a deal with Lord Skully of Dirge. We all know Skully's a super nice guy, and as many awesome things as I've heard about his creations, I know I'm in for a real treat.
McSpunkle makes me laugh, builds awesome shit, and makes me think with his FB posts. I mean, I wouldn't kick him out of bed
Jero: Built me the baddest Russian Muff around with Rasputin on it. Jero builds dat pooty tang. In addition to his superb solder skills, he's a sweetheart and I'd birth his child out of my peehole.
