It's definitely more low key than I expected...I thought there would be more rockers on there. Really digging it nevertheless.

I can definitely see how this could be his mid-life crisis album

It's def a slow burner when compared to past output. As for the mid-life crisis thing, I can see/hear that in the lyrical content for sure, lots of questions and second guessing relationships going on in those vocal melodies.

I love the album tho. Finally discovering the new Ghost record is the only thing that got ...Like Clockwork off steady rotation for me.

boring.

"keep your eyes peeled" and "i appear missing" are exceptions, but this did not hold my attention at all.

In todays generation... it seems like no band can win. It's either "every record sounds the same" or "they've changed" or "they sound like this"

I think it's a great progression of the band and they definitely have their own sound.

I personally think every song is a real rocker.

I honestly can't say I've been stoked on anything coming out in the past year or two other then this.

Then again, QOTSA can do no wrong in my books so I'm pretty biased.

Just bought the album and listened to the whole thing for the first time, I really like it! I don't see how it's that different from their other stuff tbh. Sure, this album does have its own vibe, but it's still QOTSA playing rock music with guitars and drums and Josh Homme singing. :idk:

They played a full set for Letterman last night, the live performances have been pretty strong!

I want pedal board shots. The fuzz on Keep Your Eyes Peeled - Ultimate Octave??

Looks like Josh is still rockin the Vt40, along with something else.

Very strong indeed! Both the NPR show and this new one.

Like we discussed benjuro, they got the tempos locked down tight for once rather than speeding things up like I've seen in past live performances. Just really solidified as a band now days, guess these members have been in place since the Lullabies days though. Except for Jon Theodore but that dude's a fucking pure talent, sure he had no problem hopping right in the mix.

Probably the strongest I've heard them yet!

Josh's guitar could have been a bit louder on most of this set though, thats the only thing I noticed. So tight though.

Jon fits in really nicely, have been super impressed with him. Tempos on both recent performances I've watched have been dead nuts on
And red tolex doesn't hide that VT40...but there was definitely another amp with a white chassis next to it, and what looked like new 2x12 cabs underneath each of those. Josh's guitar was definitely low in the mix.
I bet it is still ultimate octave for those parts Harry asked about, but I want to know what those new guitars he and Dean have are...

Yeah, I've been researching those guitars and I haven't found shit about 'em. Lack of any discernible branding/marking makes it all the more difficult to figure out. Gonna get to the bottom of that little mystery though, all in due time. :thumb:

Ooohhh, thank you!

Not sure why I never go to that site. There's another Queens forum I've popped in, can't remember exact name but it has TONS of good info, just slow as shit so not much actual discussion occurring. Eventually I just quit going back...
