Owl Programmable Pedal

I think I'd want more than 4 knobs. And I want to see what the programming gui looks like.

I think I would would trust people like Strymon and TC who have day jobs writing audio software to make better sounding patches than I ever could on something like this. Could be cool for making really fucked up sounds, though.

Yeah, I don't really see much advantage of this over the Line 6 stuff or any other programmable or digital pedal, outside of the housing looking like an actual pedal. That said, I'm interested in seeing how well this goes, and I certainly hope it works out for the creators.

I mean it's not in anything as powerful as C but it does already exist.

Oh, yeah, I remember that Openstomp thing. Did anyone ever use one?

This. Seem like a fun idea for anyone who wants to try and make something that doesn't already exist. I doubt people will buy this to make a room reverb.

Hopefully the community is larger than that of the openstomp. If a lot people starting making patches for this it may be worth buying for them alone!

Definitely interesting, glad it got funded because it's a cool thing to do and if it takes off it might be worth looking at for massively fucked up noise though because I bet people more talented than me could code some godawful weirdness.

A bump: the Kickstarter ends in 3 days and it would be great to reach the stereo goal (should make it possible to make side-chain effects as well!) and maybe the extra memory (for delays) as well!

I just added a 2nd pedal to my pledge :D

Have you had a chance to check out the OwlSim thing? Heard any patches from it?

I didn't have to do anything with that yet, but there are already several demos by others:

Only 1 backer away from the last stretch goal (1Mb memory) :)

I think the advantage of something like this versus something from L6/Strymon/etc is that somebody might just really want to make a patch for this without the thought of commercial viability so we could see some really out there effects that a larger company wouldn't take a chance on.

eh?

That's what I'm hoping for, and I'm intending to follow what people make with it and get one if the community really takes off (because I can't really be bothered to programme my own stuff and can't afford one right now anyway).
