The new synth is a nice addition but the CWO effect elevates the OP-1 another notch or two in its usefulness as a creative fun machine, in my most humble opinion. I had a lot of fun playing with it today, it's more fun than any other effect on the OP-1 so far. I hope this is a window into future thinking on their part because I think the OP-1 has only fractionally tapped its potential.

Yeah, you know you're thinking outside the box when you've got a cow on your display screen.

say if u want your crank to taste more spaceship-y maybe?

just did the update.
wow the visuals on the new synth and fx are very entertaining.

more ppl should do updates to their devices like this!! its so fun getting new shit to play with on a device u already own.

you two are right on the money. the CWO is really really useful, i got phase, flanger, ring mod, frequency shift, pitch shifted delay...so great. absolutely elevated the instrument. this sure beat the hell out of running the tremolo LFO at audio rates! getting updates on a piece of hardware you own...what a concept indeed!

to me they are, but it took me a couple months to realize it. what other instrument offers u multiple synth engines, effects, drum sampler, drum synth, synth sampler, unique sequencers (monkeys! and hipsters!) plus a 4 track tape. plus portability with a killer battery, amazing visuals and free updates from awesome swedes!

How is the noise on one of these?
I hear the output is noisy.

I have always thought that is looks FUN. I noticed on the video that the guy keeps the volume low, maybe when it is turned up it distorts a lot.

i've had some issues with noise, but nothing that can't be dealt with via proper planning for live use.

is it worth it....

when i got it, i thought i fucked up. i saw it as a bunch of money that i should have started a modular with. i tried to take the eno approach that limited is good, blah, blahl blah, but with the exception of a couple of great FM patches, the karplus strong, and a few other items (phone, loops) i kinda indifferent. the last few weeks have seen a real change in my thinking toward it, and these two updates could not come at a better time.

Yeah, I could see that I would have similar worries if I bought it.
The Sampler and 4 track seem dope. The interface is cool looking. The update looks awesome.
The accessories look neat but expensive.

^yea the monkeys (finger sequencer) and nitro update did it for me. was contemplating selling it, then we got those updates. around the same time, i started bringing it with me to the park, to the lake, to the woods, etc. really started diving into the tape and everything. changed my world.

i notice a little noise, but i really dig the artifacts that arise from such a thing so it never bothered me.

some ppl have said they only notice the noise w/ headphones and that it can be eliminated with a simp[le headphone amplifier (like a fiio or similar) or a DI box.
sometimes the noise is just the nature of the sounds/fx.
also, ppl on the ohpeewon forum have been saying that the noise is much improved on this latest update!

Man..I have a Gotharman's Little deFormer Limited Edition. It is cool but a bit too open-ended for me. I know it can do more than OP-1 overall but I tend to try and use it like the OP-1 and I could have some money back in my pocket too.
Then again, Gotharman does all kinds of updates and some really cool ones are supposedly in the works.
