Oh the main reason I want a short scale is for live use if I ever played with a band. The Thunderbird you have to just plant yourself or do the Krist rock.

The old Musicmaster, which the new Bronco is like, could get a very nice bass tone.
Some what like the ’51 P ok not the same but nice and thick.
The Bronco should be able to get very good sounds.
Oh TI now makes short scale flats so you can now put the best strings in the world on it.

Yeah even my drummer's Squier Bronco sounds amazing through his 4x10 rig.

Ah PP - here you have hit on the horrible, horrible truth about recording (which you may know already, but is one of those pesky things that plague even the best home recordist): every set of speakers (to say nothing of the amps driving them) have different natural EQs (to say nothing of whatever EQing the manufacturer does to make them "sound good"). Every studio that I've recorded in has a set of really flat reference monitors (which can get pricey, but there are deals if you shop around), as well as two or three sets of "comparison speakers" - i.e., one set that's comparable to a portable system like little iPod speakers, one set that's like car speakers, and one set that's like a typical consumer system. Of course, you can always just listen to your mix on a few different systems and take notes...

And that's not even touching on the subject of room acoustics, which is equally important. You could spend $10,000 on a pair of monitors, and still come up with mixes that don't translate the way you want them too if your room doesn't sound good.

Oh the sorcery and mysticism of acoustics. :grumpy:

Not to mention recording into a laptop, what program you use, soundcards, etc. It's what makes recording so much fun, everyone has a unique quality. Afterall if we all recorded in the same room to the same device things would get boring fast.

The recording I just did is way bassier than it should be and I can't think why. I did a similar recording set up before and it worked fine...

with a Condenser mic, what distance from the grill should it be? Should it be right up against it, or back a bit, and how much? Maybe I'm too close. I also have trouble getting it to stand up.
