Most Versatile Fuzz

It an awesome thick fuzz but I didn't get a lot of versatility out of it.

which instrument did you mostly use it on?

Mostly bass but a little guitar as well. For me at least it only did a couple things but did them VERY well.

Most versatile fuzz I ever used was a McSpunckle Mini Gnome, I can only imagine what the big boy is like.

i feel as if i was offered a Gnomeratron VTF in a trade awhile back
but i can't remember for what
i think visually i was thrown off by the pedal which is stupid

now i'm a bit curious about it.

now i'm a bit curious about it.

I had a DLX with the diode rotary controls but it had some shotgun blast switch popping issues (loudest I've ever heard from any pedal) and the sounds I'd get from it were either mean and thick as fuck OR starved and completely weird sounding/oscillating madness. Wasn't much low-moderate gain goodness going on with mine at all, just all brootz OR all weird. Also, it seemed to love bass way more than guitar with my setups and when I did manage to dial in a decent sound, I could never find it again. A fuzz so busy it needs presets.

Granted, I had an early model so maybe it had some kinks that needed working out...

Since everyone seems to have their favorites, I'll throw mine out there. The Prescription Electronics Depth Charge. Probably the most versatile fuzz I've had. Perfect tone. LOVE IT.

Yes the gate switch is just icing on the cake for me. I was using a fnord for gated fuzz, and although it has an octave/scrambler sound going on that the TAFM can't exactly produce, having 3 dirt pedals on my board ended up overwhelming me unfortunately.

still haven't tried the TAFM. the dwarfcraft shiva is really versatile. with the toggles down, and the texture to the left, it pretty controlled and open. toggles up, texture to the right, it modulates dynamically through different sounds. not to mention the starve.

I know this may surprise some but my favorite is THE WOLF COMPUTER.

Someday I will own the Gnomeratron VTF. I'm pretty sure McSpunkle's making them again, he posted a couple Facebook updates about it last week.

I'll also throw in a hat for the TAFM. Maybe not the most versatile but a lot of sounds for sure. My main setting right now is a fuzz-stortion setting that is really biting, but if I back off my tone know all the way I get a subdued synthy tone, almost like a low-passed saw wave.

& then gated mode for fucking madness. I love that the fuzz knob is maxed automatically by hitting that switch. Can feedback for a while and still get that sweet decay. & it can be really percussive.

Sounds amazing with bass and guitar and synths.
