Has anyone suggested the Wampler Tape Echo with the newly installed tap-tempo footswitch? Tone knob as well as unique modulation. The time range is around 800ms, so I hear, and it sounds pretty good, though not outstanding in any way.

THat red panda particle delay is pretty slick. I never thought id be one of those 78 delay kind of guys but...fuck it.
Man, you need delays for days! I love fuzz, but I love delay almost as much. Also, can't believe I forgot to mention my favorite delay at the moment...The Empress VMSD is really nice. Tape mode is killer (which makes me think that if you got the Empress Tape Delay it'd be just as good). The VMSD has some nice reverse sounds as well, a forwards and backwards looper, and a crapton of other options. I've been seeing used ones for reasonable prices recently.

I haven't although i'm a HUGE fan
because he said he has an El Cap, so i though that he had tape delays sorted out so I recommended Disaster Transport which to me feels more... analogish
i have the regular disaster transport and love it. pretty different flavor than tape emulators. the dt sr just seems nuts. more of a complex thing than i would get these days, but it can do some really awesome shit. you're going to love it i'm sure.

2nd on the Empress VMSD. mine is great I love it. I found myself especially empressed with the reverse mode, oscillations and the immense amount of features and build quality
I really dug the reverse modes on my old Empress SuperDelay, but I wasn't overly impressed by the other sounds. They just seemed a bit... bland. The tape mode sounded the same as the digital mode. The looper had that annoying lag issue as well. It was really small and laid out well, but that was it. It would be cool if Empress made a dedicated reverse delay pedal.

A standalone reverse delay from them would be sick. I'd be all over that. The tape mode sounds pretty good to me, though. I mean, it is a digital delay, so you can only get so close to that tape sound, but it's good enough for me. Looper mode does suck a bit. Once you get used to that lag it becomes usable, but the annoying factor never really goes away. Really wish it was more than ten seconds, too.
I've found myself never wanting to use the looper on the VMSD personally. I'd just rather have a delay or a looper not both. Similarly I don't touch delays on my DL4
I'm with you there. I use a DD7 as my main looper and never use it for delay. I need a loop station... But yeah, the other settings on the VMSD make its looper more of a novelty than tool. That pedal is complete gold, otherwise!
