Thinking about downsizing my amp

Right now I'm using a PV Rockmaster 120 head with a crate blue voodo cab (Celestion V30's).

It sounds GREAT! Takes pedals well, TONS and TONS if headroom. Drives nicely (when you can), and retains a nice thump. Really has killed any and all desire for a "doom" rig.

But lately, I haven't been playing much. Ive talked about jamming with some people, but no way would i travel with that. And let's face it. I use about an 1/8th of the amps potential.

I'm wondering if downsizing to something like an AC15 would be worth it? Anyone have a massive rig and the. Go small?

My concern is that I can't get anything for it. Not for how good it sounds, and they're super rare amps. I loved my triumph and foolishly sold it for $250.

I would say a Hovercraft Dwarvenaut 20 if your dead set on going small but that's still a big sounding amp. Could def play shows with it but bedroom jams are also realistic...

If you can't get any money for your current amp and love the sound, save up for the AC15 and keep your current lovely.
Unless you need a new amp now / don't have the space for both. Then :idk:

If you're wanting something similar to your current rig but in a smaller, less powerful format, the AC15 probably won't be the right move. Go play one and see what you think of it, may change your mind on what you want out of an amp.

All good suggestions. I said the AC15 because I love the el84 sound as well.

Maybe I'll get rid of this hideous 4x12. It sounds good, but my wife always complains that its too big, ugly and always out. :erm:

I went through a similar downsize where I just wanted 1 portable guitar amp that I can play in a band setting. Like you, I really love the sound of cranked el84's, so after a lot of searching I went with a 20 watt Hughes & Kettner el84 Duel Statesman. My guitar player is a huge fan of the Vox AC series and had an AC15 and he prefers the sound and options of the Statesman. I got mine off of eBay for under $600 (used) so they are pretty affordable.

Here is a link to the tech info:
