In a band?
Who is in a band and how did you get together?
I am having a difficult time finding people to play music with. I have tried out for a number of bands but nothing has realy tickled my fancy. I guess this is more of a complaining thread than anything. I have been in the Baltimore area for a year now and I don't realy know anyone outside of the pagan/thelemic community. I don't have much time to go see shows either so that doesn't help. IDK maybe ill go see sleep tommarow and meet some ppl.

I assume you moved to Baltimore from a different area? most of the people I've been in bands with have been friends, or friends of friends....I've never been farther than 20 miles at most from my place of birth and childhood so I've never had to make a new "clique" as it were.

Yeah, craigslist is a rough road to travel but it can work. I met my bassist there and our new drummer was a talkbass member so the whloe current linup basically met through online stuff.
While we were looking we had a ton of people come through who were either nutters or not so great at their instrument. You just have to stay at it.

Re: In a band?
i gave up on having an actual band. everyone ive ever played with except for a choice few have been egotistical, selfish, flaky buttholes.
im finishing up writing an album right now, doing everything myself at home, then ill play shows with friends backing me up or acoustic.
fuck.

I get a hard on from playing with a drummer. I realy need to play with others, drum machines don't cut it.

Re: In a band?
I have been in a few bands and always get fed up with working with the self-centered egotistical guys like echodeluxe mentioned.
I ended up doing a solo thing, but it's more of an ambient sound experiment...No drummer, no other people...Just my guitar, taurus-style bass pedals, and singing saw. I'm more happy doing that than I ever was playing with other people.
Don't get me wrong, I love jamming with people, but the commitment of having a full time band doesn't bide well with me

Re: In a band?
i'm the opposite. if i'm doing stuff by myself i neeeever finish. i'll end up with like 4 hours of two riffs in ideas of things. i need a person to work with to feel some responsibility towards them and getting thing done did.
i.... am no help finding people. this is only my 3rd or 4th band. first was in high school, 2nd was with one of the guys from high school like 10 years later, this is the second iteration where i took the drummer from the 2nd band, we had a grrLy singer, she.... got.... interesting? now it's just me and the drummer and we're thinking about starting to look for a female singer that can keys at keyboards.
