Screeching Owl Hydra
Just got a chance to play the Hydra. It is a monster of a pedal. Highly inspired by it. The site describes it as "PLL-Based Analog Frequency Multiplier Synth Fuzz". Much sub-octavy oscillating fuzziness. Cool to let it self-oscillate as well - if thats yer thing. Reminded me of my Snazzy Mini-Ark - except way de-featured. Freakin love my Mini-Ark (highly recommend to anyone BTW). The Screeching Owl website has an "On Indefinite Hiatus" message and who knows how many were built. http://www.screeching-owl.com/
Any Screeching Owl owners out there?
Anyway there's one at Trade-Up Music in Portland

Is there anyone who has any recordings where they used this? Not many demos online that I can find.

Would love to hear an excane demo because that demo on the website doesn't do anything for me.

I just love the name, sounds like a band that would've opened for Earth Crisis.

From looking at the controls, and reading the descriptions, it looks (and sounds) like the lower half of a Schumann PLL. Build the squarewave section, the divider section, add the Loop control («Lock Time: Controls the lock time for the PLL frequency multiplier. Turn it all the way up to get crazy warbling tones», same deal on the PLL), and you`ve got the Hydra description covered. Even the self oscillation can be arranged, via the 4049`s VCO.
Build a Schumann PLL, and don`t bother torturing yourself with also rans. Just my POV.
If anyone can provide gut shots, it would be nice to test my theory.

I have one. It's kind'a cool for weird sounds but I don't find that it tracks well enough for a part in a song... unless it is a weird, glitchy, noisy part.

Would some gut shots be too much to ask?
Cheers!

not really but it's in a travel case with my other pedals that aren't on my board so it might be a few days before I dig it out..
