Active Pickups?

Post by aens_wife »

Hey dudes!

We don't have any active instruments and someone asked us about the Shiva paired with an active bass.

Has anyone tried this? Any insights would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I think warwick.hoy used one with his warwick, but I'm not sure if he still has it.

I went down the active road for a while. Nowadays I shun all things active.

I'll try to find a Shiva around Austin and try it with my P-Bass Dlx... Not sure if Music Makers has one but Austin Vintage might, or if you know where lemme know and I'll check... :thumb:

I haven't used a Shiva specifically with actives, but I have every other Dwarfcraft pedal I've tried. I'm sure it will sound awesome. All the others did. I use 18v usually too. So active as a motherfucker.

I used mine with my Warwick Artist Series Jack Bruce Survivor (which is active/passive), and it sounds pretty killer. It's not as thick as it is when the bass is in passive mode, but still has a bunch of anger in it.

If you can give me a day or two, I'll get a quick audio sample of some active and passive sounds so you can compare.

I knew someone here would have an answer! Thanks so much guys.

Jon, sound clips would be totally rad, but no rush on them AT ALL.

I'll at least try to fire it up tonight and, if no clips happen, I'll get you a better write up of the differences that I'm hearing so you can at least have SOMETHING to go by.

Besides, I have a new amp being delivered today, so what else am I going to be doing tonight?
