7 Day battery life though? The day you forget to charge it or turn it on would inevitably be the day something got stolen and it's at a price you could buy some decent gear with anyway.

Although I do like that you can listen and chat with it, wonder if you could freak out some meth addict thieves with a talking amplifier.

Its why I keeping my home rig at home. If I am going to play out it's mostly going to be cheep shit.

My bass teacher has ( I don't know if he still does) a Fedora Monarch 4 worth close to 7k. He is a gigging musician yet he plays a MIM Squire P with Bartaloni Pickups and nice guts. Bass plays and sounds fantastic. Sure enough it was stolen not too long ago. His home rig is an EA 1000w into an Epiphany 4x10 (which I FOOLISHLY sold back to him) and is touring amp is a beheringer 1x12 combo.

That being said, musical equipment is almost next to impossible to get back if it gets stolen. If you have good insurance, document everything so that if you do take your nice stuff out you can at least be covered to replace it.

This is a little cheaper, but it's a still a little expensive to be popping inside of ALL one's pedals, guitars, amps, etc.

Cheap enough for luthier built instruments, modular synths, and 'spensive amps though. Perhaps suitable for the pedalboard case, depending on the construction.

storytime... about seven years ago i was playing shows toting around an 808 and a 909 along with other synth gear. also played MS-20 through RE-201 in a band for a while a few years ago. haven't played out in a couple years now but have a new band growing thanks to a couple great new friends. we'll be playing out before long, i get to play guitar for a change, will most likely be toting a sovtek midget 50, marshall 412, PT-PRO & PT-GRANDE. not sure what two guitars yet, definitely not anything vintage but still probably something nicer than my squiers. someone takes any of that i'd love to be able to call the cops and tell them where it is. hence this thread chatting about it.

I have a bunch of nice things. I have insurance. If they get stolen, I'll replace them with other nice things. It might not be 'the same' but I'll live.

Just flipping on the amp or effect or synth can kill it, eventually electronics or frets or whatever on a guitar can fail or need maintenance, and it won't sound the same afterwards too.

It takes me to a place that I could get to with other stuff too.

But in the end, even if you have GPS info, the question of whether they'll do something about it or with it comes into play.

I choose to be covered and just not worry about it.

I gigged with 'vintage' gear for ages. It was irreplaceable. I played it live because I liked how it sounded, and didn't have a scrap of finsurance as a young poor dude.

I agree, I like to use my special gear whether it's irreplaceable or not. I mean, I can't see why I'd keep the great sounding unique gear stored in a box at home and use something different on stage. If and when such special gear get's stolen or broken... well, the sounds change of course. Some songs might never again play and sound the way they used to but hey - that's life. Use Fender stock geets and Marshall amps and Boss DS-1 if You don't like it.
