Woah I never made that connection! I betcha you're gonna love Spelunky!

Moderate Spelunky spoiler below, no big deal, most people know this anyway:

NSFW: show
My favourite thing about Spelunky is watching the real pros do the hell run. Lots of YouTube gamers think Spelunky ends at Olmec but if you do a few secret things and do a perfect run from the beginning in one go it opens up a couple secret levels. One is the city of gold, neat level, the other is Hell! Awesome level with an end boss, but only for really really good players, I love stuff like that.

In my multiple month absence from this place, I've basically been playing my Vita nonstop. Yeah I had some tomb raider, bioshock infinite thrown in there, but I've really been into Disgaea 3, Soul Sacrifice, Persona 4 Golden, and the other various vita games I've picked up. Also, it seems to be turning into an indie handheld, especially with Terraria coming soon.

Unrelated, but anyone else looking forward to The Last of Us?

There's a cool Castlevania game for the Vita isn't there?

I'll be checking out The Last Of Us for sure...

i don't think there's a castlevania game, but that would be cool. I'm also buying up a bunch of the ps1 classics. Being able to play Final fantasy 7,8,9, Lunar Silver Star Harmony, Trails in the sky, on a handheld is pretty amazing.

Ryan wrote:I got a weird suggestion for you, something different than my usual likes, but it's a really fun game to watch people play.. it's a platformer called Spelunky. You have to advance through several stages of randomly generated mazes using jumping and bombs and ropes and other utility items and it's just fun.

I've also been watching Metro Last Light, pretty cool FPS survival horror from a Russian perspective.

A cool new RPG is Mars: War Logs, you know I like anything that takes place on Mars.

If you played Dragon's Dogma there's a cool new DLC called Dark Arisen, great RPG action game.

Thanks! I will take a look at all of those.

And I am totally looking forward to The Last Of Us.

The Last of Us is the one I'm looking forward to the most for this year.

Ry, you should totally get the new Neverwinter MMO. It's free!

Not as D&D as I'd like, but it's still fun to run around killing things from D&D. Ran into a phase spider and jelly yesterday.

The Neverwinter MMO is pretty good hey! I've watched a bit of it.. I don't think I'll ever play an MMO again but man, around 15 years ago I couldn't play enough Everquest haha.

The free to play model of MMO gaming is really interesting hey.. what do you guys think of it? Do you spend extra money on in game goodies or just enjoy the freeness?

Couple cool new platformer games I've been watching recently, The Swapper and Gunpoint.. anybody check them out? I think they're both indie games on Steam.. also Rogue Legacy, that's a cool one! Like Castlevania plus Spelunky, very cool.

I literally haven't played anything since I finished Bioshock Infinite. I need to get it together and start playing some games instead of being an adult so much.

Actually played a bit of Dishonored yesterday. Solid game so far.

With the Xbox One and PS4 all announced, which way are you guys leaning so far? I don't like the Xbox DRM/used game thing. And looking at the titles, the only exclusive Xbox title I'm interested in is Forza. I have played primarily on 360 this gen, but will probably be going for the ps4 for next gen.

PS4 most definitely. It's cheaper, better spec'ed, doesn't snipe used games, doesn't require an online connection, looks just as cool, has way more titles including exclusives, and has full support for indie game developers. It's a true gaming console, unlike the Xbox One which is a consumer product for the masses, not the gamers.

Have you guys checked out The Last Of Us yet?? Holy geez it's an emotional and gripping game! I've seen about the first 2 hours so far, it's very well done and you guys should check it out for sure.

That whole XBOne debacle is nuts hey... what a riot it started in the gaming press world, so many videos of people blown away by MicroSoft's decisions there. I agree, the XBOne is no gamer's console, not at all. I think that move could be something that signals the end for consoles and the win for the PC gaming master race, they just make it such a no-brainer.
