i got super lucky and picked it up off gumtree. pretty tough to find one in aus in a hurry i'd wait it out they do pop up every now and then.

I sold a 1x12 for $350 that I still really, really regret as it was an amazing cabinet even though I don't have a need for a 1x12 I still feel it was leagues above whatever else I've tried over the years.

it's actually a great amp IMO. tons of digital emulation. reverb blows but the rest of the effects aren't bad. i'd removed the behringer logo and covered the v'amp in electrical tape. the two shows i played using it years ago, both times had more than one person come up asking me what it was since they dug it. it can also be great help when recording if you've got a band all in one room without isolation, can let a guitarist run through that direct sounding good enough for a scratch track while getting the drums down. the two boss GS-10s i have a great for that too.

Here are my other guitars, bass, banjo, and amp. I don't have a colour photo but the Gretsch G5129 has a red top and black sides and back. The Epiphone Biscuit Resonator has an upgraded National Cone and a Schatten pickup (sounds really cool with fuzz!)

No sound clips sorry, and no recording gear. My buddy and I are planning on renting some to record a few tracks so I'll try to get something up here. So much sustain. The fuzz kind of overpowers the twang though; almost doesn't sound like a resonator. Tons of feedback too, an EQ pedal is mandatory or you can't even turn the fuzz on.

I've been wanting to get one of those resonator covers with the built-in pickup for my resonator mandolin, but it costs more than the mandolin.

Chankgeez, I'm assuming you mean the National Hot Plates with the Lollar Tele pickups? Those things look amazing but yeah, they cost almost three times what I paid for this guitar! One day though.

It's nice. It sounds rad, though it needs a setup.
The 24" scale is surprisingly comfortable.
Pots are junky and I don't care for the bridge, but I swapped it out for a mastery.
Threw some .12s on there. I can't believe these guitars come equipped with .9s.

I've got a Chinese made Johnson National copy (which I like a lot actually), but it seems silly to spend more on a pickup for it than I did on the instrument itself. Yeah, when I get a nicer instrument maybe. I kinda want a resonator mandola or mandocello.

Hell yeah, 24" is the shit. It came with .9s? That's insane, imo .11s are the bare minimum on jags. Bridge swap is a good call.

Bass VI showed up yesterday. So very good, such a unique instrument, really comfortable to play and the Custom Shop pickups sound HUGE! Probably gonna sell my bass soon cuz this thing is the perfect guitarist's bass, like the ultimate in betweener.

I say leave the pickguard alone, looks just perfect as is (well it would be even more perfect with a matching headstock, but I always say that about offsets).

I must say that I've lately been considering Bass VI myself as a replacement for my bass. I'd have to pay for a good chunk of one by selling my current bass ('78 Musicmaster), so obviously I wouldn't be able to go for so sexy a custom shop one as yours, either Pawn Shop or preferably a used MIJ.

I just got lucky with the Custom Shop, traded a dealer friend and got it for almost 50% off in the end. Still pricey but never could've acquired it otherwise. Cool they're offering it again in the Pawn Shop series, I hear good things, people even seem to like the bridge HB so that seems like a solid option. I'm not big on the finishes they offer but oh well, can't have it all. An MIJ would rule, def the next best thing to a Custom Shop or vintage model, plus they offer a variety of cool finishes. Bitch to find tho, at a decent price at least....

They really are super cool, I love the 30" scale and tight string configuration, just feels natural to play. I use a pick for bass normally tho, not sure how this thing would go over with a finger picking bassist. Sounds really fat, fatter than I expected, could easily substitute for a regular full scale bass in most applications.

Only negative thus far is the total lack of string options. Comes stock with the now discontinued Fender set (25-95) which feels great in E standard but I'd like to go lower. LaBella makes one set each of flats and stainless steel rounds and D'Addario makes a light gauge round set (24-84). That's basically it. Just found out LaBella will do a custom nickel plated round set for really cheap considering, around $20, gonna go that route and do some experimenting. Oh, Circle K also does custom sets also but they're pricey!

Yeah, I'm not so much concerned with string cost as I am lack of string gauges/options to choose from.

The LaBella custom sets should work out fine though after I experiment a bit, figure out what feels right downtuned...
