Didja ever commit, Sofa? What did you think of them? I'm currently trying to decide if I want to try flatwounds for my next set, or just buy normal ass rounds again.

In general, I avoid flats on electric guitars and LOVE them on bass, although I put some .11 flats on a thinline tele the other day and it sounded pretty good.

From my experience, Pyramid flats are in a different league compared to other brands though. Whenever I do string up an electric with flats I try to persuade customers to shell out the extra cash for em.

i put the flats that came with my jag on it when I set it up, and idk if I can ever go back to rounds. When I told Johnny Marr at his show that I was using flats, his mind was blown and kept going on about how good it must sound and that he would be putting a set on one of his jags to give it a shot. flats ftw

also.. rounds came out at some point in the 60's so everything you hear recorded before then are flats... Dick Dale is flats, Link Ray is flats and so on and so on. Things twag super awesomely and they kill for slide.

I have not tried them on my LP or Tele, I actually haven't picked up either since I got the Jag. I will probably throw a pair on my telecaster once I get a new neck for it. I will probabaly keep my Les Paul with rounds, just because I use it for higher gain, and the humbuckers I have in it are hot, so I like the somewhat ripping attack on it. I think it would lose a lot of the aggressiveness that I use the LP for. Not that my jaguar can't sound mean with the flats on it, it just rolls off a little of the attack. Sort of makes the sound softer and more dreamy when using dripping wet reverb. However, when I have the jag pickups in series and have my elements in high gain territory it still chugs and palm mutes beautifully. I guess it's just a softer/prettier sound to my ears currently.

i use flats on my bich, ecg, lp classic, stratosonic and carvin fatboy. my lp custom, hamer phantom, prs custom 24 and 10 string bich have rounds on them. if there were a 12 string flat set i might use them on the 10 string. i suppose i could use a regular flat set and buy singles for the doubled strings but i havent.

i love flats!!!

This thread and this Carson McWhiter video make me want flatwounds so bad.

i may try flats on the Musima--the East German guitar i got in b/s/t--once i have everything sorted out. it's got an inherent thinness to the tone which might go well. or maybe on the Tele.

Dude, you love flats, but don't know Pyramid makes a 12-string set?

I think LaBella and Thomastik probably do as well.

I've been using flats on my tele and bass for a while now and i love it! Once i switched i wondered what took me so long. Definitely helped me get the jazzy tone i've had in my head all these years.

but sometimes i miss being able to pick scrape... :idk:
