So it turns out the Hall of Fame doesn't do stereo in->mono out! Huh. When I had two inputs plugged in, taking only the 'mono' output gave me what went in the mono input, and the 'stereo' output gave me what went in the 'stereo' input. Didn't mix inside the pedal.
