XP-300 Space Station Revival Poll on TGP

Post by toonhollow »

I hate to cross-reference another forum's topic (especially TGP), though this is a pretty good exception.

http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=1260598

Forum member and real-deal DigiTech representative DigiTechRep posted this:

"I'll make you a deal. If you run a poll on TGP with the following options:

Would you buy an updated DigiTech XP300 with true bypass for $299 MSRP?

1. Yes, lickety-split!

2. No, it sucked the first time around!

3. Maybe, I dunno, what was the question?

3. Magical Brownies

...and get more than 100 people to choose #1 then I promise to bring it up in our next product development meeting."

So if you've ever experienced the magically insane XP-300 and want a reissue, please vote! DigiTech did a great job upgrading their Whammy pedals, so now let them know there is a strong market for a new Space Station!

I had a digitech expression factory for a while (which has the space station mode), and it was nice but I've never understood the hype. Can't you get a similar sound with a volume pedal, a delay, and a reverb with shimmer? :idk:

Space station mode on the xp factory isn't the most popular use of the xp-300. MOst people like it for the 5 octave up and down simulatneous and well as the warp delays. expression pedal controls rate as well as forward/reverse. Some really nice settings that the xp-7 doesn't showcase.

That actually sounds pretty great. Whenever someone asked about the space station on other boards, people always suggested the ex-7 and that was the end of it...so I assumed that was the best/most popular mode. I had no idea it did so much whacked out ambient stuff too.

VOTED
1.
FUCK YES

I absolutely love the Space Station. My XP1000 is an unreliable tone sucker but I can't live without it. If they can do as a good of a job as they did with the whammy V I would pay $299 in a heartbeat.
I can't believe this has actually never happened though, they would sell like hotcakes. I doubt it will actually happen, but I'd love to see it.

I totally adore my XP-300. I'm sure they'd do a top job of re-issueing it - so long as they didn't get rid of that ultra-fast echo 'bonnngggg' tone that makes up lots of the ring moddy sounds...
Jeez it has so many brilliant things in it! Would they add stuff???!!!

What took them so long?

Digitech are just incredible.

Why settle for an XP-300, when you can build an XP-ALL, or XP-ALL+ ?

The complete build document is available here; http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=48463

We did this last year. We also addressed some of the short comings of the XP-1000, like no stereo in all modes, and having to power down to switch modes. We also added output volume control as well. What you see above is the XP-ALL+. It's all four XP models on one chip, unlike the XP-1000 or XP-ALL, that uses 3 (or 4 in some cases) chips.
