I modded my Blacktop Baritone

Post by voerking »

got rid of the original pickups.
installed a Dimarzio Virtual PAF in the bridge.
eliminated the neck & middle pups, and went with a blank Warmoth pickguard.
also nixed the tone control for a one pickup/one knob rock machine.
got a blank control plate from GFS & drilled it for the single knob. (props to skullservant for inspiration from his Telemaster)
added some strap locks.
now it's ready for full on rock de(con)struction.

Fucking excellent. My tele baritone is pretty similar. I think I may remove the tone knob.

If I acted on those impulses every time I had them, I could open up a Guitar Center.

I think the only way I would put a new one together is if I made a Baritone. I kinda miss having my baritone around

Wow the simplicity of it is beautiful. Plug and rock machine. Great job. I'm usually always a proponent of minimalism.
Fuzz, reverb, delay.

I really didn't like the standard pickup selection on these but this looks great. Much cleaner and probably heavy as fuck.

thanks dudes! very stoked on how it turned out.
the only other thing i'm tempted to do is upgrade the stock tuners - but they're holding tuning just fine, currently, so i'm in no big rush.

How do you feel about the humbucker/baritone combo? Not too muddy?
