What is your favorite type, brand of compressor?

Do you like VFE White Horse, EQD Warden? Do you prefer opto, or not? Do you use it for sustain, or squashing, or even clipping. What the dilly?

I like compressors with blend knobs, so I'm going to go with the barber tone press. If I used compressors more, I would definitely pick up an eqd warden

not currently using a compressor on the board; have a Rane stereo in my rack mount stuff. if i was going to get one i'd want separate attack and release knobs, and ratio is nice too because some ratio settings will effectively give you a brick-wall limiter.

My favorite type of compressor is the one that works.

The best one I've used is the M87 Bass Compressor. Interested in trying out that Warden, though!

It depends what you want to do with it, I like to really hear it when I engage a compressor and the nicest ones I could find (thick but still natural sounding) are mostly based on the Ross or Dynacomp:

Keeley 4 knob compressor

The Demeter Compulator is also supposed to be really good.
For bass the Aguilar TLC is quite amazing sounding, don't know what it does on guitar though.

this. any ones that sound dirty lofi and FAT AS FUCK. no flab please. i can't get enough of that SMASH. in pedal format i like the empress and the vfe white horse. oh and the instant lo fi junky.
for rack, i've been really diggin this focusrite compounder.
for vst, softube FET compressor, valley people dynamite, the glue or that kush audio jawn. the built in ableton compressor is actually very nice too.

but don't listen to me cuz i don't use it on guitar/bass. i just pump beats, drums, machines, gameboys, synths thru them!
