The new sabbath record is a fucking joke. People thought that were going to put together a album like black sabbath or sabbath bloody sabbath but come on, this is going to sound like ozzys shitty solo work. This is not 1977, they are not 18, they are not playing the same equipment or recording on the same analog gear in a shitty studio in london. This is 2013, they are all 80 and they are playing shitty "analog modeling" amps in ozzys studio/study recording on fucking pro tools. Fuck this and fuck them for doing it!

I doubt they're using modeling amps, digital recording is better, and am I the only one who didn't listen to this and think that ozzy just raped my mother or something?

It's not that bad. It's just not Master of Reality. Deal with it.

All good points dude, I was more shocked at how derivative the riff and the sound are. A good example is the heaven and hell album from a few years back. It sounded modern, crushing and like something a bunch of doom veterans could be proud of. But the few seconds played in that clip don't have any of those qualities. But what the hell, it's a 20 second clip ...

Yeah, I liked the God Is Dead? alright. And it was Black Sabbath alright - the riffs sounded a bit like stuff from Sabotage, which works for me, though a butthurt critic might say Iommi's playing it safe with the songs on this album. And vox lines worked nice, giving the song a little freshness, though Ozzys voice wasn't at its best.

I listened to it again (it's all over serious xm) and I'm really digging the track. If this is what they are playing on the radio I got to imagine there are FAR better songs on the album. Not ozzys best vocals but I'm stoked that it not the usual overly chorused vox sound he has been using on his solo shit for years. I hope this all makes seance I'm pretty stoned right now.

Also, if you're going to have a lyrics like, "no where to run," I guess it's painfully obvious that the next line MUST be "no where to hide."

That line is just as cliche' as... well, Black Sabbath itself, at this point.

They're still my heroes, but only for the work they've done... certainly not for the work they're doing.
