A similar concept was tried in the 80s (can't remember who it was). Peavey's transtube technology is an example of how you can attempt to mimic a tube gain stage with transistors. This is just taking the same idea and putting it in an essentially modular format. I think it's technically impressive but it's not going to sound likes tube. May no doubt sound cool but it will be different.
