Graphic EQ ON a guitar?

I've seen some interesting basses with graphic EQs, and while they tend to need more tone controls that a standard guitar, I'm curious as to why there aren't (m)any guitars with more than one tone control.

Some digging revealed these "Shadow" pickups, but I think it would be cooler to have something you can adjust from the guitar mid song/set. I've been gassing on pickups a lot recently, but I realized if I could tweak more of their voicing parameters maybe that could be a cool alternative?

Maybe something like THIS? Are these active preamps/circuits?

Any type of eq is going to be active. You could add a Big Muff style tone control to your guitar, but passive tone stacks suck a lot of volume. Active is really the only way as far as I know.

Makes sense, all of the basses I've played in recent memory had active preamps/electronics... Would explain the 3 band EQs and shit. I need to find some one who builds one, preferably in a graphic format, or a schem and parts or something.

I've found this, but I would have to revamp all my knobs and shit, or drill extra holes. I guess I could run something like this for the three EQ knobs, and then put both pickup volumes on a concentric pot or something...

Bassists probably like active with eq on board because of how often they just use a DI feed -- just bring the bass, maybe your own DI box, and done. (And it's funny how many of the on-board TMB eq circuits are just a miniaturized version of the blackface Fender preamp and eq circuit.)

But if you're running pedals on the floor anyway, there's not a lot of downside in putting an eq pedal, or multiple eq pedals, down there. Guitarists also tend to have more guitars than bassists have bass, and a pedal eq is an eq for all of your instruments. Not to say that some guitarists don't go the other way. There are active eq circuits from EMG, Bartolini, and I'm sure a lot more companies that I don't pay a lot of attention to.

Also alot of clubs have a bass rig, so you bring your bass and you set the amp's EQ flat and then use the on board eq to get your sound
