sonidero wrote:I use this lil Crate CR-112 "Head" I took out of a combo for a headphone and pedal amp late at night... I got the combo real cheap and eventually the speaker ripped and I replaced it with a Rockford Fosgate car 12" that I found in the street and that was ok but the Spring Verb was always too short... When I took the head out I saw the grommets were fucked so I looked around and found some ol sink washers I never used... They're kinda tight but when I plugged it all back in it seems the Verb time has doubled and the Springs have Sprung back to Life... I guess it's just the rubber support but it really bought this bitch back to life... Sounds SICK with pedals and headphones plus I can always put it back in a 1x12" combo... YAY $25 AMPS...

Here is a pic of my sovtek that I have been using recently with a sunn 4x12. I have been using this rather then my super bass build since my bandmates said they like the distortion at a lower volume level since the sovtek is a 50 watt and the superbass is 100. Plus my drummer.

Thanks. The low end is real nice since I am playing a seven string down a step so my low string is an A. It really rips, especially since I just put some new strings on from Naked Strings and the A is a 70.

YES. Congrats dude, such a beautiful amp. Which one is that again, the Sock Monkey? 2x EL84 and matching 1x12??

I'm also feeling the EL84 goodness, my Hovercraft has me fawning over those tubes. So good!

I realized this cab would be perfect for elevating my record player. Amps as furniture.
But now I want some sort of reverb or tape delay to stack on the head.
Maybe I'll try to build something for it. Unnecessary GAS over something I want purely for aesthetic purposes. Well, it needs reverb anyways.

Jupp, sock monkey! And matching cab! The combination and the colors scheme ( Vintage Amethyst (purple) with a Fawn racing stripe) sold me on it.

Exactly! :thumb:
Here is the product page: http://3monkeysamps.com/wordpress/sock-monkey-head/
Built quality is awesome. This amp is funny: no bullshit knobs, no additional things or useless controls. Just a straight simple amp. It is super touch sensitive. And i have the feeling, that some fuzz boxes, esp. the MKIs, are thought to be used with the EL84s right before cooking.
It is not loud enough to play with my drummer (crash ride parts!), but the floor is vibrating if i play it at home in my music room :animal: I think, it will track superb. So the divided by 13 will go back to the rehearsal space.

 we almost pulled the trigger for these at the same time, dude! :thumb: Yeah, the sock monkey has a shitton of gain too
Your Hovercraft looks so sexy on the wooden cabinets
