Ripping my hair out![Noob wiring help]

Post by lotus_eater »

My first attempt with veroboard. The circuit I'm building is a Devi Ever Hyperion 2. I'm pretty sure the board is layed out correctly but I'm not getting any kind of bypass signal when it's turned off. Did I wire it correctly? I'm pretty confused about where to ground everything. I used black wire for the ground.

Here's the layout I was using.

Any help would much appreciated!

You've got the ground and input wires swapped on the input jack.

Also, I don't see a ground going to your circuit board at all.

Nevermind on that last part, I didn't see the layout link there at the bottom. Devi and her crazy noise boxes.

Yep. Looks like you've got the sleeve and tip mixed up on your input jack

:?: I swapped the sleeve and tip wires and still not getting any signal, where else should I check?

EDIT:
hmm... it works if I plug the into the output jack about halfway. What would that indicate?
here's a pic

When you plug the output jack in, does it cause the part the tip contacts to push down and touch the case or anything else (metal on the stomp switch?)? That would ground out your signal. Something to check. It would explain why it works when it's not plugged in all the way.

If this is it, you could use some electrical tape between the case and the jack, or twist the jack some so it doesn't touch.
