Yeah, sorry about that. I tend to babble a bit too much, but I'm always afraid that I'll leave something out. I hate leaving people in the dark like that.

I guess if you've got the attention span of a chipmunk, my videos can be pretty brutal.

You don't have to apologize. I've seen some of your other videos. So, I knew what to expect.

I like your phaser vids. :thumb:

Soooooooooo... how'd it go?

Had band practice last night so I'm going to eat some spaghetti and watch part of paradise lost 3 and then get back to the bench.

I was gonna try to make a joke relating spaghetti to the wiring in the original PLLs, but it was getting too convoluted.

Fuel up, man!

dude, thank you. really reawaken me to the greatness of this circuit. it's just a few simple ideas with some good mixing, makes for great noises.

Digi2t, I really liked the talking in your vids. The crucial difference between your vids and most other talky rubbish is that it felt like you were going somewhere with the commentary, and I learned something in the process.

I love yer vids Dino. Your always examining the rarest shit and your commentary is great. You are a rare crusader!

I just finished laying down the whole circuit minus the power supply part. I have a 7660 regulator to get me my 9+ and 9- so ill try that first. It's 11pm here in Los Angeles. By the time I strike it up it'll be almost midnight. Sorry neighbors...

i do have a question: when the square wave function is the only one of the three mixed, do the phase inversion switches for the multiplier or the divider have any effect on the signal that's being output?

The phase inversion switches affect only the Multiplier or Divider circuits respectively. They seem to change the tonality and interaction (for lack of better terms) of their high or low octave respectively with the squarewave. Essentially, the more octaves you dial in, along with dialing in the squarewave, the more these changes are noticeable. In the end, it's a balancing game between the three, with the switches adding some spice to the soup. Thus, with that said, the inversion changes are most apparent with the squarewave, and either/both octaves dialed up, but not the squarewave alone.

Hope that makes sense... :wha?:

P.S. Thanks for the kind words on my videos. It's greatly appreciated.

Fascinating stuff, and you definitely have some great vids - I need to dig through them more fully.

So how does the PLL sound stacked with another fuzz? I love the harsh square-wave, but does the PLL like having another fuzz fed into it when the square wave is down? If someone loved something more muff or buzzaround-like, how would that work out?

That's a great question, one that I was too busy to really think about. But, since you asked, I decided to try it with a Gemini III Dual Fuzz Generator in front of it. The GIII is set to 50/50 Ge and Si fuzz, with the gains at max. PLL squarewave at 0. I was really surprised at how the upper octave could really take off and soar. Here's a quick (by my standards  ) video. Hope it shines a light on your dilemma.

Great video's, about the only ones (along with the Bassfuzz ones) I saw on the PLL that really made me understand why the people who tried one like it that much.
I pissed my pants on the last video, that sound was scary as well as hilarious.
Very cool!

I still can't wrap my mind around the possibility of a fully functioning AND available PLL clone dressed in a custom LaoWiz enclosure. That would move straight to the top of my GAS list, just barrel over the rest of the shit I long for, no contest.

Fingers crossed hella tight on this one.
