Yep, we are due on 9/21 if all goes accordingly. And yes, we got ourselves a baby for Christmas in a very literal way. We had to do IVF, so we did the transfer on 1/4

The little guy or girl we be able to hear in like 2 weeks, so now I am tasked with the nearly impossible task of picking out the first music the baby will hear in utero.

Also, he/she will officially be attending their first concert tonight. Can't hear it yet, but should be able to feel it, which is just as important at a show. What show you might ask? Why, Lynyrd Skynyrd, of course. There is literally no chance this kid won't be white trash :animal:

Awesome!!!! The middle of September is gonna be NBW in the DR!

We find out the sex of the baby at the end of the month so I'm super excited, my wife is fully convinced its gonna be a girl, which I have no problem with. And knowing my wife the first music our baby will hear will most likely be QOTSA or Spinerette from her :yay: and Sunn O))) and Bongripper from me  There's no chance our kid won't grow up fond of the sweetleaf hahaha

North drums! They look so amazing hideous but sound rad as fuck.

And congrats, t!

I love the sound of North toms...never heard them sound anything less than amazing...but the kick drums im not too fond of(as far as I know the body just uses the toms)...could have been that the guys i've seen with them didn't tune it well or something...but it just sounded so sterile and dead.

Congrats to both of you! Looking forward to the day that I get to play music and read to my unborn child...I was lucky enough to see Ozzy(sadly not Rhoads...but at least Jake E. Lee) and Motorhead in utero and although it would be impossible to tell whether or not that helped fueled my obsession with guitars and loud music...but I like to think so.

NBW indeed. We will find out the gender sometime in the beginning of May. My wife thinks we are having a girl. As long as it's healthy and happy I am totally fine, but the man in me knows that three bloodlines converge directly on me (only child and only biological grandchild on my mother's side) so I have a very strong desire to have a son.

I was originally wanting to play some Sabbath for the first music, but lately have been thinking about some Bob Marley. We live at the beach, our kid will be required to be chill, and as much as I love metal and the heavies I may want the kid to hear something like Bob so that he/she hears something that says 'hey the world is a pretty cool/chill place.' After that it's straight to the heavies though :excellent:

Start with something heavy but easy to listen to, like Kylesa or Black Sabbath. Get the kid into it before inducing him or her with Indian or The Body straight away.

Sorry to change the subject, folks, but does anyone know how to plan a workout schedule for home? I've been working out for about three months now and I'm stronger than I used to be and can see a very small increase in my physical form. I want to take things to the next step and quicken the pace at which my muscles are growing and becoming stronger. I have a five-day schedule that entails shoulders and chest on Monday, abdominals on Tuesday, biceps (with cardio supersets) on Wednesday, triceps and back on Thursday, and legs on Friday. Saturday and Sunday are rest days or days or when I work on cardio if I can bothered or have the energy.

What exercises should I be doing first? Should I be mixing muscle groups? Should I worry more about losing the fat and toning up rather than building muscle mass?

Yeah - don't want to scare them into trying to stay in the uterus  I'm more into the stoner/southern rock thing so I actually don't listen to a ton of really heavy stuff.

And yes. I am going to do my absolute best to make a musician out of this kid.

I'm in the same boat my friend! I'm the last male of my bloodline on my paternal side (as far back as my grandfather, all family tree info past that is completely unknown) there's a few people out there that we believe are all part of the same family but theres no known info that concretes everything other then our extremely rare last name.

That's actually a pretty cool ideaology. My two stepkids dad raised them on death metal and grindcore (and "pirate metal" :picard: ) and its actually kind of noticeable how much of an effect it had on their personalities. I want to introduce my child mainly to artistic music, music that pushes the boundaries between entertainment and art. So that as they grow no matter which music they choose to listen to it will hopefully encourage thinking and feeling, not drinking / partying / womanizing. So they understand that music should be the soundtrack to the soul, not the party. I will always encourage them to listen tot he music they want to, but if they show interest in a certain genre no matter what it is I will always try and show them the best music of that genre. I would encourage them to listen to hip hop if thats what they like, but I'll be showing them the poets not the thugs.

This is hilarious. Congrat's Trey, that's awesome news! I could have saved you some time and just shipped you one of mine. My seven year old pisses me off to no end, but the kid is hooked on music playing both drums and guitars in his little band. I started all three of my boys on this.

vidret, thanks, man. Looking forward to hearing what you have to say.

Skip, great attitude, one that I will share with my children one day. To be honest, I kind of hope that like something different than rock, like jazz or classical. But I won't turn down a metalhead. ;)
