Guitar and bass amps not being "full range" has always bothered me. I'm just curious about how they play, because it always feels like different amps have certain dynamics with how you play them.

The boombox appeals to me on sooo many levels, it's a sleek, sexy, shoulderbag-style amp, and as long as it doesn't sound like shit with a guitar I'll probably get it. But if it doesn't play well with the guitar, then the crate might be the one. The crate just LOOKS like it would be difficult to carry around. I need to know what they both feel like when I play through them.

Crate I always just put o a luggage rolling cart along with other accessories/pedals/bag of cables so weight wasn't an issue.

yaaa!!! u already know...not 100% sure if they allow speakers/amps onto that main busking area, but that doesn't mean that we can't find another spot, if thats true.
(emoore said something to me about it over the weekend, but i have been so spaced out on cold medicine all week, it didnt quite sink in)

I just found where you got your suitcase of audio wizardry and I'm going to have them make me a custom one that's a bit easier to carry for long-distances. I can't believe how loud they are 100w  I foresee sound level complaints coming from a national forest near me :yay:

http://caseofbass.com?? !!!!

definitely the best solution out there (atleast that i could find) in terms of loudness/portability and battery life.

some of them are 200W, and i've seen some that are 400W. lol

i'm not trying to be obnoxiously loud, but i don't wanna have to crank that shit to be heard and have it fart out on me.

They're the ones! I definitely want something I can strap on for hikes and such. The farting out thing is really what I'm worried the most about, not many of these portable amps are very satisfying when it comes to volume.

^yea thats the jist that i got too. i looked into all the portable jawns i could find out there. the rolands, the crates, the boomboxes.

the idea that i got was that they sound amazing at low volumes, then starts to crap out when u start to crank it a bit. don't want none of that homie.

its also very hard to tell how loud something is from words and internet. u kinda gotta actually put it to the test to really know if its going to work for u.
but 100w, 200w, seems like more than enough to rock a street corner.
i didnt want something that was going to be just enough. i wanted something with a lil extra kick to it, and thte suitcase fits all the bills. plus looks way cooler than some PA speaker.
that 10+ hour battery life??? yes plzzzzz.

thats why i ended up going w/ the major tom w/ the bose system.
i'm not by any means in the group of "OMG BOSE IS THE BEST THING EVARRR", but they seem to have a knack for cranking shit and having it still sound very crisp and clear.

if it ends up being super loud, i may just sell my PA speaker and use this thing full time, not just for outdoorsy stuff.
