Finally have some sound samples of the Meat Hammer, and what's more...in context! Pickup is a BKP Alnico Warpig, variations in distortion tone are entirely in playing or in the tone pot(ie: 2:13 = Tone pot at 0%)

has a modern feel to it. Whenever I listen to Bens demos of his higher gain style amps they have that feel to some degree

The best way to pull this off -and this is not directed at any particular individual, just the general readership- is PRACTICE. Being convincing at 130dB with buttloads of distortion is much easier than being convincing relatively quietly and cleanly. If you can really do both people will definitely get into it.

This.

Also, glad you really like the new guitar. I knew you would, but still. :p

before i actually have the loot
then when i do im gonna get somethin else
be dissapointed
and repeat that twice
until i get this
and its probably gonna suck balls
hopefully the whole process takes 2 weeks
and i can move on with my life

I've wanted the SDC55 since it came out in 2010. I can't for the life of me find one though. I've heard rumours they might be being discontinued. I don't know how true that is, but they're really difficult to find over here.

Sounded awesome. That groove is...I was going to say groovy, but then I'd be a douche.

Yeah I think the Skyhammer pre is a bit more modern voiced and then the Loucks is more vintage brit-like. Part of what I love about this amp so much, modern gain tones with their own character, more full bodied and thick than any other modern high gain i've used.

after reviewing my own demos they often have very similar sounds because i record them in the same room, with the same cab, with the same pedals and same guitar. Another factor in the mix

That's exactly how I would describe my Skyhammer Pre + Dunwich Annunaki. :yay:

Yeah I think its also the way you guys build, there definitely are unique aspects of both amps, Verellen models definitely produce a lot of the same tones...I can reproduce pretty much any Helms Alee tone with it...honestly though with so much headroom if you know what you are doing with the tone and vol pots there is not one tone that is not achievable with any high end high watt tube amp.

DUDE you are the guy with the Annunaki?(is there more than one?) That thing looks DOPE remember seeing it awhile back and almost shitting myself.

Idk what it is ben does with his tube pre's...but the character of the distortion is just amazing...thinking about grabbing a Skyhammer pre myself so I can still sound somewhat similar if I get myself into backline situations.

hahahaha I will probably finally invest in a router and do it right, but I will have to use a drill for the mounting bolt holes from the back and a screwdriver to put it together.

my other obsession is tools
i am ryan summit on contractortalk.com too
havent been on there since i found ilf
anyway
in my research people seemed to like the bosch colt
and ive gotten alot of recon'd power tools from cpo
always good deals and warrantys
check out the dewalt one too
its been a year since i was lookin at them
so things might have changed
http://www.cpotools.com/factory-recondi ... R20EVSK-RT

i'm a big fan of those bosch hand held routers. it's a good tool for the money. i'm not a big fan of anything black and decker. they are cheaper, but they're geared toward the home owner/very light use type of buyer and that's why. they don't really have the features or durability of the higher grade stuff. i guess if you are only going to use it occasionally it's a pretty good buy. most of my tools get used very hard pretty much every day for my job, so in the long run it tends to make more sense for me to spend a little more on a tool to get something that won't be frustrating to use and will last a long time. but most folks aren't in my position, as far as tool use.

anyway, the bosch is really nice. if you're going to use it a lot, spend the money and get that.

also, ryan summit, are you a contractor? i am. although i don't go on any forums related to that or anything. i usually want to leave work behind when i can, although the occasional tool/construction talk is alright.

Yup thats me! :hello: (there is and only ever will be one....). Thanks so much! As far as the looks the credits gotta go to Nick and Tom (@ Mammoth) it came out so much better then I ever expected, all I did was give them a few requests and final okays.

Agreed!!! I can get into a very similar territory with an OCD into an Elements, but its missing the rich harmonics and organic nature of the Skyhammer pre. I was excited to pick one up because my band has the probability of playing alot of out of town shows in the near future (including a possible 1 week tour of california this summer) and if I can't haul my rig to certain shows I can take the Pre in carry on along with my board and have my tones available anywhere as long as I have an amp with a power amp in, or an fx loop return. Send the regular out to the amp and send the DI to FOH just like I do for my bass setup (which has a Dunwich bass pre / DI).
