I saw a small handheld router by i think black n decker at walrmart a while ago on the cheaps. I should have bought it on the spot as now its no longer in the store.

I'd like to find a small handheld one, i do better with those since i spent so long around electric and air tools doing automotive body work that were all handheld.

Absolutely man. Kyuss is definitely a band in this genre that people make you think you NEED to like.
I love QOTSA, as far as I'm concerned... they can do no wrong.

Some dickweed we played with literally got upset with me because I said I'd never really paid much attention to Kyuss. His whole perspective was that there was no way we could sound the way we do if nobody in the band was swinging off Kyuss' collective nutsack. Must suck to be a narrowminded worshiper like that. I absolutely ADORE that song the Lost Art of Keeping a Secret. And I get along pretty good with those first three Queens albums in general. That song wherein he names off a bunch of drugs has to be the silliest thing I ever heard in my life though and then by Lullabies they were flagging hard and the one after that was just too corny for me to even remember the name of it. I do respect Big Josh though and I'll listen to this new one before I pass judgment.

Oh no need for apologies. Previous to the Yamaha I thought a Gibson SG was as good as you could get. But I've been in and out of both guitars plus the new Ibanez now and and now I see it. The poor quality of Gibson goods. I swear my old Chinese Epi Les Paul was as good as ANY American Les Paul I've ever handled and of course I've handled plenty. Glad you dug the Tadness. Brothers of the Sonic Cloth is the best thing he's done in my humble opinion.

that's so sweet! our guitars are pretty much brothers. mine's an 81 as well, from may i think although i should look at the serial number again to make sure. it looks identical, except that i've done some shit to the electronics and my bridge pickup is now black and my lower tone knob now has a switch in it's place. these things are fucking killer. so much so that i'm pretty sure if i were to buy another guitar tomorrow, it would be another AR50 like the one i have, or a yamaha sg like the one you have. you're going to love it. i can't wait to see what you think of it. mine was really good when i got it, but after a good setup and fret dress, it is a dream to play. and it sounds awesome too. to be honest though, i'm not crazy about those stock pickups. i put a duncan distortion in the bridge and i love it now, even though i could get something cooler if i dropped a lot of cash, but i'm pretty happy with this pickup.

Man I am in love! The Yamaha wins this race by half a cunthair but the Ibanez is RADICAL

The shift in volume dynamics is really important. We only do it a little but every time we get quiet people get excited. Then when we kick it back in again they get even more excited! The best way to pull this off -and this is not directed at any particular individual, just the general readership- is PRACTICE. Being convincing at 130dB with buttloads of distortion is much easier than being convincing relatively quietly and cleanly. If you can really do both people will definitely get into it.

We are designing our live rig setup (if we ever get there) so that we will not be dependant on room acoustics or pa. With tony running two amps and two cabs, and myself running 3 and 3, the plan is to have guitar and bass cabs on both sides of the stage. We both subscribe to the clean headroom with pedal dirt philosophy so we can retain control of our sound at whatever volume we want to be at. In theory we should be able to keep volume down for the atmospheric parts and still be projecting the feel of the sound due to how many speakers we are running and bringing volume and intensity up will be to easy.

Saw Om last year at a local spot and due to the design of the room, with a ton of booths along one side, so many people were talking during the show that Al actually stopped part way through a song to comment. Haven't been back to that place since. What a shithole.

Fucking hell. Go to Cheers if you want conversation dumbasses. I thought we were here because MUSIC. There's these two cornballers that hang out at the Josephine and sniff coke. They will talk loudly through anything. It is fucking infuriating because they like the same bands I do. I'd like to pinch their fucking heads.

On the subject of this Ibanez Artist I just got, HOLY SHIT! It is so good. It is quite well built and that bridge has about a mile and a half of available saddle travel for the intonation. The quick release tail piece is brilliant as well. The tuners having both the slot on the hole is not really a 'feature' but it's kinda neat. The neck is great and the action is every bit as good as the Yamaha. Mine has the Super 70s and after my Proprietary Tone Secret was installed it sounds soooooo good. Keep in mind that I only use the neck pickup in the context of the band so that's all I really care about. It doesn't feature quite the low end that the Yammy neck pickup does but so what, it has quite the aggressive voice. Especially when fed to a hungry Ape Blaster. The bridge pickup is possibly the brightest cleanest loudest humbucker ever. It's like Tele jangly almost! My only complaints are ridiculously minor but in the interest of full disclosure I'll say it has what I call 'the Les Paul problems'. Namely the front strap hanger is up on the horn instead of the back of the body which causes it to hang off the shoulder differently than I'm used to. And then the belly cut is like off to the side which causes the top edge to protrude more than I like and it beats up my right forearm a little. Very minor stuff and not genuine complaints at all. I got all inspired off it yesterday and finished two songs we've been kicking around for a few months now. Quite a fucking axe.

Kyuss was a huge part of my late teenage/early 20's. I remember finding Wretch in a used CD bin when i was 14 or so, and not knowing what the hell it was, picked it up anyway and god damn, still one of my favorite records till this day.

I'm a pretty big kyuss fan, liked the first few qotsa albums (the stuff with mark lanegan, because he is awesome) but I don't think that in order to qualify as someone who likes heavy "stonery" groovy music they are a must have. Personally, I can't reconcile hommes' claims that he never listened to sabbath, but that's by the by.
D-Day, I also checked out your Jooniors stuff, that is some slick business! But I don't see the kyuss connection. That is a compliment.
