tele pups and mods

Post by magiclawnchair »

:hello:
i got one of those 50s classic vibe teles with the pine body a few months ago and it is very cozy!
i now feel like it is time to mess around with it so i want some new pups and i am going to put a 4 way switch in so i can run the pups in series as well.
i found this article, http://www.premierguitar.com/Magazine/I ... Guide.aspx and the 50s vintage wiring also sounds like it would be worth a shot.
right now i am thinking about the duncan quarter pounds for tele as the new pups.
i have thought about a p90 in the neck and some sort of twin blade type for my bridge, but i should keep single coils in this thing as my other 18 guitars have humbuckers.
what have yalls done to yours? what pups do yalls like???
have a great day :thumb:

Go with the 50s wiring and a Fender Custom Shop Nocaster pickup for the bridge and put a lollar in the neck. Those Nocasters are unbelievable.

I got a Squier CV guitar last week, great guitar. Thinking of modding mine as well, not right away, but a few months down the road.

First thing is some pickups, My Epi Dot has Bare Knuckle "Riff Raff" pickups in it, and I like how they sound, so I might give their tele pickups a go. I got my tele because I like Graham Coxon's guitar sound, and most of his stuff is Teles. From what the guys on the BKP forum were saying when someone asked about that kind of tone, they brought up these 2 sets:

Blackguard: http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/ZT-teleseries.html

Yardbird: http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/ZT-yardbird.html

Then again, my usual shop I get my shit from has some Fender pickups as well. I'll have to dig deeper nearer the time - this will probably be a christmas present to myself (like the guitar was!)

I may give a 4-way switch a go as well.
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey... stuff.

I’ll give my guitar player a call, he’s a Tele guy.
Two original ‘53s and a couple of custom made ones. One which has a pine body.
He’s anal about pickups so I’ll let you know what he has in the customs.
