facebook you can disable if you want! just saying. i said the same thing once :P
I just use the free service. I spend too much on music and films already.
CaptainBoxman wrote:I had spotify, but I dumped it after a while. I just couldn't stand it bugging me with adverts and whatever shit my facebook friends were listening to all day
I turn that all off when not using it.
Iommic Pope wrote:EDIT (features massive nerd alert): Walking dead finale and game of thrones premiere tonight! Prioritise that shit. You can't.
I just finished watching the second season of The Walking Dead. So good. The acting is dodgy in spots compared to Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, but it's so enticing and fun to watch. It's more of a page turner than the other two shows.

Take a look and let me know, I'm interested to see if there is a difference with whats available to you. World Wide Web?
Hmmm
We've only just got Netflix and Spotify in Ireland in the last year.
D-Day wrote:Anyhow, back to my lousy SG that I used to think was so great before I got a proper Japanese guitar. Yeah after not touching the thing for seven months it was just plain sad. I did all sorts of tweaking on it and NOPE. So I remembered that the singer dude from Stereo Creeps had a certain righteous Japanesey guitar he was looking to trade away. I hit him up and while we were loading the trailer for Portland yesterday afternoon he came over and we traded on the spot.
And now the guitar!
'81 AR50. Today is now a fucking international holiday that I call IBANEZ DAY
Fucking NICE! That's three of us now with an Ibanez Artist.
emptyparadigm wrote:Also, can we all agree that forming a new band is awesome and yet very frustrating because you know that no matter what, the first four or five songs you write will pale in comparison to the stuff that comes out once everyone gets comfortable? Sheesh. Oh well.
It's all part of the fun. Just enjoy it for what it is. Have fun and don't take it too seriously.
SpaceFlunky wrote:and man being a QOTSA fan since 2001.....that new song leaves me a little worried. It is kinda bland sounding, never really went anywhere. I really want to like but as of right now, i cant. Maybe it'll grow on me.
And fucking JT on drums!! I love his playing. He was just nailing the drum parts, dare i say even better than Castillo ever did. I cant wait to see them develop some jams with JT behind the kit. Fucking NAILED First it Giveth.....in the first fucking gig!!!
The song wasn't that impressive to me either. Maybe I'm just too picky since they've already peaked as a band. They're never going to be able to top Rated R and Songs for the Deaf.
misterstomach wrote:that's so sweet! our guitars are pretty much brothers. mine's an 81 as well, from may i think although i should look at the serial number again to make sure. it looks identical, except that i've done some shit to the electronics and my bridge pickup is now black and my lower tone knob now has a switch in it's place. these things are fucking killer. so much so that i'm pretty sure if i were to buy another guitar tomorrow, it would be another AR50 like the one i have, or a yamaha sg like the one you have. you're going to love it. i can't wait to see what you think of it. mine was really good when i got it, but after a good setup and fret dress, it is a dream to play. and it sounds awesome too. to be honest though, i'm not crazy about those stock pickups. i put a duncan distortion in the bridge and i love it now, even though i could get something cooler if i dropped a lot of cash, but i'm pretty happy with this pickup.
I'm not sure if I have the same pickups as you, but I really quite like mine. They're not very transparent and add a strange thickness to the sound, but they're so deep and full that I can't bare to let them go. A little more clarity would be nice, but it's not a big deal. Not that I intend on selling her, but I'll probably devalue the guitar if I swapped out the pickups.

Really sick of the Meat Hammer already, if anyone has a Line 6 Spider III or even just a Pod live to trade let's make this happen.

Man if the power stack were an MT-2 instead it would be a done deal for sure.

mine has the super 80's i'm pretty sure. perhaps the super 70's are cooler. they sounded kind of thin to me, oddly.or maybe it was just boring. no particular part of the sound had any meat to it and they overall seemed a bit weak. i know i've probably devalued it a little with my strange wiring scheme and non original pickup, but i don't really care. mine didn't have the original bridge anyway. and i saved all the original stuff in case i ever wanted to put it back in. but i can't imagine i'll ever sell this thing. i don't flip guitars a lot in general and i really don't think i'll ever have to get rid of this.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Parker, same. I have no interest in selling my guitar. The pickups on mine are really thick and chewy. No matter what amp I play through it always comes out sounding huge.

Mike, their vocalist, is a good friend of mine. I love going to their shows because even when they had multiple shows in multiple spots through the week every single set would be completely different and SPOT ON.
