Re: I need more fuzz

Post by Twangasaurus »

Hey guys,
Had a look through everything and I think I'm probably going to go with the EQD Dirt Transmitter or the Devi Ever Bit? Really I'm looking for pedals under $150 new or used (probably should have said that at the start!). Didn't realise there was such a range of fuzz nasty out there so thank you for the suggestions, it was a proper education. Mostly I think I liked the "spongier" sounding pedals as opposed to the more thin octave-y stuff like the unpleasant surprise and the fnord. Cool pedals but not something that would gel well with what I got going on.
I'm putting the Rainger Freakenstein and the Mcspunkle Gnomeratron on the "if I had money" list and the Shoe Pixel and Fuzzhugger AB-Synth on the "will definitely give a shot later" list.

Any more suggestions on the "spongy" side before I take the plunge (Aquaman fishy friends of the sea style)?

I wouldn't describe the fnord as thin sounding at all. It can get that sound if you want but it's also thick and heavy. You can get some normal fuzz sounds out of it too but keep in mind that its heavily gated
The dirt transmitter is a fantastic pedal as well

Just looked for some more clips and yeah, I was wrong. Whatever I looked at before just didn't show off the pedal in a way I liked. I hate describing sounds anyway, never seems adequate and so many "tone words" mean different things to people.

I feel ya, I usually find it difficult to describe the sounds I'm hearing without sounding silly
I've been meaning to do a demo of the fnord just because there isn't a whole lot out there on the youtube.

Yeah, it's the weirdest and greatest thing my guitar signal has ever had the pleasure of being effected by.

Wow, you guys really dig the Unpleasant Surprise. I wish I had one in my area that I could actually go out and play because I have to admit that the clips really aren't doing it for me.
