Also, question to fellow badascan users:

I initially threw it on my board because it's nasty. But I wound up putting the hoof back on, because the badascan doesn't play nicely with my phaser or delays. Any thoughts?

Also, a new issue: I have a Carbon Copy, and now when I kick it on, it noticeably darkens my whole tone and there's a slight volume drop. I've never noticed this before. WAT DO?

That's really interesting man, I'm having this strange problem with my supa puss delay since I got it back from the factory for their volume drop fix, where if I have the trails mode on, and I turn a dirt pedal on or off, you can hear the change trail out. I only noticed it today when I had my black forest plugged in. Also strange is that it wont power on until the patch cable in the input is plugged into the output of the pedal before it, even on dc power. Now that is anomalous.

I've never had issues with Mesa Dual Rec's, the guitarist in a grindcore band I used to play in used a triple rec (along with a block letter 5150) and I thought it sounded great :idk: I've definitely seen my fair share of daddy bought Mesa's used in metalcore bands that sounded horrible but in the right hands they sound great. Doesn't the Singer / Guitarist in ASG use one?

I used both of those pedals on my bass board for a while and never noticed either issue :idk: The carbon copy is a dark delay, but it never modified my base tone. The badascan depending on your settings could be too hot, but I'd need to know more about what you mean by doesn't play nicely. First thing I would recommend is putting some type of buffer or buffered pedal at the end of your dirt chain before any modulation or time based effects. Sometimes the output of a pedal, while being unity gain or above, can have some weird impedences. OCD circuits are very well known for this, but its part of how they get their tone. The downside is it overloads the input of any pedal that follows it and can make delays muddy with distorted repeats.

I heard there was numerous issues with the Supa Puss delay, seems they still haven't quite gotten it right. In trails mode you are in buffered mode, which means its not true bypass, its just got the delay turned off. So if you send a loud enough signal through the circuit (like a pop from the footswitch of a pedal your activating) some of the signal can force its way through the circuit making it trail out. I'm not a pedal builder though so I could be completely off on that but i've experienced similar things before. As far as the cable and powering on thats beyond me but it sounds like even with the cable in there's not a significant enough connection.

Yeah I get the buffer mode for trails, its just interesting that it does it now, as it didn't do it before the repair. You're bang on though, its probably the massive volume increase from the dirt, clearly the buffer isn't that crash hot. I'm starting to get a little annoyed at the pedal to be honest, I had to send it off for a few weeks for the volume drop repair after only just getting it, pay for shipping to the US, now this...I really like the delay sounds though, and its got good options. I dunno, if I'd have known the empress tape delay was coming out when I bought it, I would've just waited.
Yeah the power thing is just plain strange. There's no logical reason it should happen.

Confusing.

Maybe its because down in aussie land, your signal and electricity flows counter clockwise and ours up in here flows clockwise. ;)

tube rectification can work for >50W amps, it just requires 2 or more rectifier tubes to handle the current load so they dont fry. However, the basic idea of how a tube rectifier sags voltage under a load can be emulated using a resistor in the B+ line so thats why I dont think they are worth the investment.

Any of you guys try 6ca7's in your amps rather than el34? I was just checking out different tubes and the 6ca7's sound like a cool variation of the el34 and I was thinking of trying them out in my next amp.

I used them in Stonehenge and DA120 #2. Drop ins for an El34 with a rebias, a true 6ca7 is a tetrode but with El34 voltage and power ratings

Cool. Yeah I was flipping through a google search of them and thats what was popping up. I figured I might as well give it a go since they were just able to drop in. What about the kt77? They have that on the el34 page on tube depot.

yea they are also another drop in but I have no experience. They are also tetrodes if true KT77s, of the kinkless variety

I'm hoping it can work out because he really is pretty talented.

I use them in my 2204. Love em. I like 6L6 / 5881 amps and the 6ca7's give my Marshall a little bit of that flavor blended with the classic el34 sound. Nice fat low end and smoother highs to my ears. Doesn't make a drastic difference, but it is noticeable enough that people always ask me if my amp is modded. I won't ever go back to running el34s in my amp again.
