1) Practice
2) Make sure you're doing it right. It's hard for me to articulate, but there's a way to scream and your voice is fine afterwards. It took me a while to hit that point.
3) Honey and room temp water.

pelliott wrote:In addition to proper warming up and practice, find your range and I wouldn't recommend trying to emulate any vocalist in particular. It's really easy to shred your vocal cords in a few minutes just by trying to go outside of your natural range. With practice you might increase that range but it's going to be limited, especially at first.

Also, this. I hurt my voice pretty badly trying to do low vocals a couple of years ago. Turns out I have a high scream and that's it.

guitarist/singer in my band (not doom, but lots of scream-y stuff) used to fuck his voice up after almost every gig, which was a pretty huge damper since at the time we were touring a few months out of the year. he took a few lessons from melissa and did the warmups religiously (every day even if we weren't playing) for a long time and it completely changed the way he sings/screams. he doesn't lose his voice anymore and has way more control in general. it's just like anything else, like emptyparadigm noted - points 1 and 2 are crucial.

So I've become completely obsessed with this guitar. I'm aware of the fact that it's a Schecter, and I'm totally okay with that.

I've been looking for a tobacco burst double-cut and this one is a crazy surf blue that I've never seen before but maybe without the creme pickups the color works?

Whew. I wouldn't, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't.

I love those sort of colours but... ehhhh. Something about the body shape matched with that blue makes it look all "blobby". I dunno.

I think all guitars should be Telecasters. That is all.

Ahhhh, that looks really nice. I love the Bigsby and that color is right up your alley man! :thumb:

Also, skullservant just finished my Black Acid clone. LaoWiz designed and etched the enclosure. Looks so fucking sick, pure tag-team-build success. Thanks dudes!

Oh, it also has a super cool turquoise LED courtesy of Dr. Scientist cuz he rules and hooked me up with a few awhile back. Been sitting on 'em til now. :thumb:

So wait, now it's "Do take the black acid". I confuse.

Rethinking that blue. Add 2 black racing stripes and that thing becomes badass

I think they actually serve a purpose on old WRHBs, but these are almost certainly for show.

You know me well. It will look snazzy with my other green shit.

It's a tele, has a bigsby, and is green (with flake no less). I'm pretty much powerless against it at this point.

It has coil splitting, but I'm not holding my breath on 'traditional' tele toanz with it.

Always take the Black Acid is how I was taught. ;)

Yeah, while coil splitting probably won't get you the "traditional" Tele tonez it'll definitely make that guitar a lot more versatile. I used to be a strict humbucker guy until I rewired my LP with some coil tapped Bare Knuckles. I prefer that setup on all my guitars now, really hard to beat imo unless you're a true single coil purist (which I'm not).

Finally got my V4 out of our jam spot and back home. It's an early 70's model, sounds fucking killer but weighs SO GODDAMN MUCH! Gonna fix it up a bit cosmetically, found an original nameplate and such, but the electronics are original and clean as fuck (Sylvainia 7027a tubes included) plus it functions flawlessly for now. Do love.

Definitely not a single coil purist. I love single coils tones from other people, but always think I sound too thin with single coils.

And I have an Ampeg I'll trade you for your Ampeg :excellent:

I hear you on the thin single coil tones. That's how i always felt about 'em too. All it takes is getting a nice hot humbucker so that when you tap it the single still stays nice and beefy. I've loved many a single coil on clean and clean-ish tones but never realized just how hard they can hit paired with the fuzz. My HB's will sound a little choked off compared to the singles through certain fuzz settings, the singles just sing!

All about the output tho. Too low and you'll be in thin/low volume single coil hell just like you mentioned.

And dude, you know I'd totally trade you if I didn't already have that Ampeg you're offering. ;)

HNNNG do i ever want a v-4. I played out of one for a bit at our studio and fell in love. I just always fear the horror stories of them breaking down all the time. The one i played works when it feels like apparently.

My dad apparently had 4 back in the day. FOUR. And he sold all of them. Why couldn;t he have kept 1 or 2?
