the two options that I can think of, boost it with something like LPB1, SHO etc..and change the bias so it is a little off. or what I would really like for splatty is to take those same germanium fuzz face transistors out and reuse them for a fuzz factory build.

well I got one of those red fuzz face reissues for pretty cheap, not really into the tone too much but the enclosure is too cute not to use

flip it for profit and start over or just add a bias control on the inside. buy one of these 30k trimmers for $0.06 and replace the resistor on the collector of Q2. you can clip one of the outside lugs off completely. either one will do. now you have two pins that will be a replacement for that resistor. that will let you starve Q2 with the trimmer turned up to 30k or put it into saturated switching mode with like 3k on the other side of the trimmer rotation. you will likely have reduced volume at each extreme of the trim pot with these mods but you can adjust how much splattyness to how much volume you want. you may also want to swap that 330 ohm (sometimes 470ohm) resistor for a 220ohm resistor. again, this will reduce volume a little but the sound is what you want.
