Re: EHX Memory Boy Thoughts
yeah same here not hatin on them i absolutely love them i have 9 ehx pedals right now
but i was soul crushed when it just turned up dead and its the fact that everyone is having the exact same problems with it
and i know everythings practically made in china these days
but these new wave of ehx pedals are being built in china i think? and its kinda made them really shabby now

Re: EHX Memory Boy Thoughts
I have a MB that I have been running my Dwarfcraft TDSS through...simply awesome. Mine has no glitches, or popping, and I use a 1Spot for power. I also have a brand new Double Muff that works perfectly. I Can't speak for anyone else, but for me, I'm 2 for 2 with great working EHX pedals.
As for this:
I don't get the whole "it's-made-in-China-so-it's-gotta-be-crap" line of thinking. Right now, I am listening to my Buddha machine by FM3. One of the coolest things that I own. Yep...made in China. My Novation XioSynth that I'm still trying to learn to play? Yep...made in China. My Danelectro Back Talk Reverse Delay (one of the greatest pedals that I own)? Yep...made in China. The 1Spot that I power all of my pedals with? Yep...made in China.
There is plenty of crap made right here in the good old US of A. It's not better simply because it's made here.
Btw, I've got a call in to EHX...I'm really curious to know if the MB is actually made in China, or if you're just spreading some BS rumor you heard/read on the internet, especially given that the MB says Made in NYC, USA right on it, and given that there are laws about writing that phrase on something when it actually is not.

You can write whatever you want. Just expect some folks to question you when you write unsubstantiated fluff in a post. And to write that your MB problems are a direct result of being made in China is just that.

?
A "potential" question followed by a truly loaded statement...

Anyway, apologies to the OPer if they're that thin-skinned concerning a response questioning something they wrote.
Back to the topic at hand...

Re: EHX Memory Boy Thoughts
Just as a follow up for those that want to be in the know so as to not make any more umm...uneducated statements...
I just got off the phone with Dianna at EHX (800-633-5477, #6). You'll never guess what she told me. Yep. The Memory Boy is made in right in NYC, USA, just like it says on the pedal itself. I even asked if the circuit board was made elsewhere and then assembled here in the US. Nope. Fully assembled inside and out in the USA.
So there goes that theory about the Memory Boy and China and shabby quality...

Re: EHX Memory Boy Thoughts
just got this email in what the!!
Hi Richard,
Thank you for contacting us. We are so sorry that you are having a problem with your Memory Boy! We had a customer yesterday contact us for the same exact problem. We talked to Electro Harmonix and apparently they are having problems with the delay on the Memory Boy with many of the pedals. The Memory Boy will be out of production for the next couple of months while they get the issue resolved. We ask that you please ship the one you have back to us at:
Spotlightnet Inc

Re: EHX Memory Boy Thoughts
it appears that regardless of what most believe, the evidence suggests that Made in China=cheap price, good performance, gets to your house in working order, and Made in US=expensive (more often than not),unreliable, inconsistent, and gets to your house in non-operational order.
Not to mention that in 10 years, everyone will be outsourcing their labor to the US and people in China will be saying things like "it broke after one day? no wonder, all that cheap crap from america sucks."
