Speaker Cranker or White Light?
I wanna dirty up my super clean Pro Reverb a little and I wanna know how these 2 pedals differ and what I could expect from them. Based on the demos I've checked out the White Light seems to articulate note definition a little better, and go much cleaner to much dirtier than the Speaker Cranker. Pretty much knocked the Zen Drive and the Walrus Voyager outta the running for my next pedal.
On that note, I'm currently running my Squier Tele Custom into an EQD Hoof>EBJR Volume>EQD Dispatch Master>Mr Black Eterna> Arion SCH-1>TC Nova Delay> Fender Pro Reverb and Princeton 65.

Re: Speaker Cranker or White Light?
I've never tried a Speaker Cranker, but the White Light seems a lot more diverse in what it does. It's very versatile in what it can do and can get very clear or dense depending on where the weight knob is. It's got a lot of bite especially when the comp switch is on the less compressed setting. Can go from very bright to very saturated and tight. Though to be honest, I don't really like the clipping sounds sometimes so I keep it on lower gain.
I use it with my Tele's middle pickup when I play through my Blues Jr. Really adds a nice exciting quality to it.

The Speaker Cranker is responsive to the guitar's volume knob but it's obviously not as tweakable as the White Light. I've only heard the latter played through an AC15 RI - really adds a 3D quality to the amp without effecting it's characteristic tone.

I am in for the same decision, but as more as I get into those two pedals the clearer it becomes: I gotta get both^^

If I was going into a super clean Pro Reverb it would be a Monarch.

Monarch for the win. Best overdrive ever. If you ever get the chance to see Jamie's bad Relaxer, you'll notice he has a Monarch on his board, not a white light (and I don't think a speaker cranker, but I may be misremembering). And he plays into a super clean 70s Music Man head.

Interesting. I remember reading an interview (or maybe a post) where Jamie said he'd been running an SC on his board. I think this was pre-release around the time he was on one of the TV talent shows.

I think the speaker cranker is on there as a boost. I distinctly remember the monarch and in talking to him after the show he said "just buy the Monarch, you'll see." Coming from a guy who isn't a salesman of his own wares, he generally lets them speak for themselves, I took it to heart and got one, he wasn't lying. It has a ton of output, you don't need to even dial in gain on it if you want it to dirty your amp only. But the break up is a thing of beauty.

Sorry man, I wasn't calling you on the story.
I imagine Jamie's no different than anybody else: if you've got a Monarch you're probably gonna use it.

Oh I didn't think you were disputing. You are probably right, it'd doubtless that he probably has both on there!

I havent tried the SC or the WL, but the monarch is perfect overdrive in my ear drums. It is so natural sounding in the breakup with a surprising amount of gain on tap and a nice EQ range. What do you want to get out of those pedals specifically?

Re: Speaker Cranker or White Light?
I own the Speaker Cranker but have never tried the White Light. The WL vids that I've seen/heard sound pretty great. Either one would be great for basic dirt..... WL - more tweakability, SC - dead nuts simple.
That said, the Monarch seems like it could work as a sole dirt pedal for a lot of people. I'll likely have to get my hands on one at some point.
Currently in rotation into a Carr Slant 6V (soon to be tried through a JCM 800 2204):
Speaker Cranker
Crimson Drive
Dream Crusher

Leaning towards a Black Eye Boost now. Make the amp work for teh sexiness.
