AngryGoldfish wrote:Skip, you can always block a Floyd Rose and intonate as standard for Drop A. The locking nut holds the tuning well and the fine-tuners allow for quick tuning tweaks when you take the guitar into a different climate/temperature.

Anyone ever setup a floyd for Drop A?

I was thinking I could use a tremol-no to keep the bridge fixed, at which point I could set it up easily. Still a bummer though.

I have a Floyd Rose setup for C standard which is...close, perfect tension and intonation on a 26.5" scale with: .58, .44, .32, .18, .14, .11...Im pretty sure most 24 fret Floyd Rose guitar necks are 26.5" scale which is pretty close to baritone, at least closer than the Gibson 24.5, but I imagine you could throw a set starting at either .60 or .62 on there and get to Drop A just fine, just make sure to grab some sort of trem locking/setting device to go with it.
It's not that its impossible to detune a floyd...it just takes a lot of patience, if you end up grabbing it i'd be happy to make recommendations in adjustments once you get it down low and would even be willing to share my tried and true method of a perfect floyd setup every time in under 30 minutes once you get it dialed to the string gauge you are gonna use.

Damn you ADHD mind!!!!! Shiny things bad!!!! No touch!!!
If i'm gonna go low I'm gonna go as low as I can go, that and I miss my old Agile Intrepid in octave down drop D

AngryGoldfish wrote:26.5" is considered baritone or extended scale. Most Floyd Rose-equipped guitars, such as Ibanez and ESP, are a traditional Fender scale of 25.5".
