The Doom Room: ILF Edition

I wanna move away from my Boss SP404 sampler and get something that I can put on my board and trigger samples with my foot instead of having to walk over to my amp and press it with a finger and having to interrupt playing guitar. Any suggestions on what will be easiest to operate. Something that is tight on space like a Jamman Solo or RC3 that I don't have to stomp a shitload of times to start a loop. I think both have the option to set the loop to play once.

Or if someone knows of a footswitch that I can run off of MIDI to trigger my sampler, that would be easier I guess.

I have a jamman solo with the break away pedal. It works well from the minimal use I have given it. The break away box is needed in my opinion though as it allows you to stomp through the sample loops instead of having to lean down and press tiny buttons. It also has a third stomp that lets you do a kill on everything playing which is helpful.

So gholas just got back to practicing (loooong hiatus from recording/ people doing grown up things etc....) and I got to run my 2x15 at full volume Sunday. Every guitar player should play through 15s. That is all I have to say about that. Every palm mute and down beat I felt in that special area.

Also, I just finished putting together my pedal board for the most part. I want to get a pog2 and replace the octave I have on there now as a place holder.

too true. I like to pound the ride to get a nice wash going. I would imagine that 30" ride would have gnarly sustain when crashed on.

Yeah? I know that it is a lot, especially since you guys were just talking about slimming down to a pedal train jr. I guess I don't see it as too much since I have seen shoegaze boards that are humongous. I also break it down into three section basically. Dirt, synth and reverb/delay. The "synth" section runs through the a switcher and the effects loop of the superego. The switch allows me to switch the effects in and out of the loop and move them behind the superego so it will modify my guitar signal too.

just got a passive loop too, it's gonna be awesome being able to turn on the pedals previously selected with one click instead of tap-dancing my way around the board. will also be able to put MOAR FUZZ on my board because the arranjement of the pedals won't be much of a big deal anymore.

I haven't gotten to use the switch pedal yet as I just built the cables I needed to wire it all up. But I am excited to use it as I can use the superego to create an ambient sound while playing "normal" guitar and then drop the effects back into series with the rest of the pedals incase I want to use them outside of the loop. So we shall see how this starts creeping into my band's new songs.

Mate...i didn't mean that in bad way...its a sweet looking board and the fact that you have sections is pretty cool!. I just have problems with my board when it gets over 5-6 pedals...it basically comes down to the whole "cant do two things at one time" cliche, i.e.. my inability to play guitar whilst stomping down on pedals. My newest board will have about 8 pedals on it, and already standing above it, i get a little overwhelmed thinking i might click the wrong thing during a song.

yeah, that's a bit more confusing.

i'm just using this loop strip for the dirt section though. i usually use a combo of dirt pedals for each particular song (usually Melx V2 > Pharaoh or HM-2 > Pharaoh), so this prevents a lot of tapping pedals. also i'm getting 5 new fuzz pedals soon and i want to avoid tap dancing as much as possible.

I use a variety of Emperor 2x12s and oversized 2x12s with most my amps, like to keep the setup modular and easy to move or switch up. My Dunwich Metro is around 80W, biggest of the bunch, and gets a pair of those 2x12s currently. Think I could get away with a single 1x15 added to that setup or you think I'm lacking required wattage? Would a 2x12 plus 1x15 setup work out, anyone tried that before?





Also, not sure how often you guys head to the "let's see your amp" thread but user stephen sawall just posted his 9x10s over there, figured you dudes should see 'em. Crazy! They were built by THD for Keith Richards to use on tour, then stephen got ahold of 'em after that. Feast your eyes....

Hahaha, cool. I didn't think you ment a bad way, I just had a "huh?" reaction cause in my mind I didn't think it was too weird. But then again I put it together so of course it makes perfect sense to me.

I was using a 2x12 with a 1x15 before I switched over to the sunn 4x12 I use now. Although I am thinking of putting the 1x15 into use with the 4x12 as long as my bandmates don't bitch at me too much. The 15 in a weber Michigan which sounds nice. I don't think I have pushed it anywhere near what it can do though since I was using it with tonkers which are really loud. The 15 has always sat on the bottom of the stack too which doesn't help me hear it when I am standing right in front of the stack in a cramped practice space.

I also got some heyboer transformers in the mail. So I will hopefully be able to start putting together my next build soon.

Yep, I got them on your recommendation. So I may need your help a bit when putting together the final list over everything I need. I was thinking of basing it off the matamp/electric schematic that was put up on another forum but use a bandaxall tonestack instead.
