Very cool

Hi guys.

I havent been around much since HC went to the shitter. Ive been playing less and less guitar as of late (first time in 13 years) and really picked up another hobby. I hope all of you guys are doing great!

I went about 3 years hardly picking it up at all. then when I started again it became more of an obsession than ever. Sometimes a break is a good thing?

:!!!: :!!!: :!!!: YES! needs some TLC but what cab doesnt when I bring them home? tweeters disconnected already (yes) thinking about. . . pulling out the tweeter, replacing tweeter hole with some MDF with some airtight grommets for the micro terrors cables, attaching micro terror under that hooded area infront of where the tweeter currently is (would have to take off the handle) and making an ultra light (for me) combo. . .

Ill prolly just ditch that tweeter and plop on a painted piece of MDF

That's awesome, but it looks absurd.

Which is also awesome.

That cab looks so sick, whiskey_face.

That Micro Terror is truly a "lunchbox" amp. Those are solid state?

vidret wrote:btw - anyone rocking a skreddy echo? seeing a good price, always wanted to try one - not really in need.

I've been using a Skreddy Echo for years now and I love it.

The sound could be aptly described as 'washed out'. It doesn't have the bounce of a DMM or the digital crispness of something like a TC Electronic. It's like there is a reverb pedal patched in to the effects loop at all times, making the repeats wash away into watery goodness. I wish it had a little extra speed range (it's only around 650ms), because I like to run my delays at around 800ms or 400ms, but it's not a big deal. The modulation is probably the highlight. It's exceptionally beautiful. It just makes everything sound ethereal and gorgeous. The fact that you can control the feedback range with the internal trimpot is handy as well. It allows you to maintain constant feedback without reaching self-oscillation and increased volumes. There is also a trimpot for the range of the modulation depth. I turned it down from stock as it was a little bit too dramatic for me. Well worth it overall if you can find one for cheap.

AngryGoldfish wrote:I went through a phase around 2009-2010 where I was barely playing any guitar. I was buying gear, but I wasn't playing it that much.

I've been through that phase a couple times myself, more time spent online researching/buying gear than actually playing that gear. I finally came to my senses and have avoided getting back into that habit ever since but it seems harder and harder to find the time to play in a normal day full of work and child and fiance, esp at any satisfying volume levels. :(

To be honest, mate, there is only so much I can play these days and still feel unique. I'm not trying to blow my own trumpet, but I've learned so much already, and I'm finding it harder and harder to discover anything new and fresh. I still practise my old routines and whatnot, but I'm in a rut at the moment—a rather pleasant one. I'm becoming acquainted with this new Ditto Looper and enjoying it greatly. It's complex music still, as it's always been, but there is nothing new of note under the sun, and that's OK. I think it's OK to just keep doing what you're doing, because those personal barriers we all have had to go through and will continue to pass through become broader and more spacious every year. I couldn't break the drumming barrier, so I gave up. Now I've broken a new barrier with guitar playing, and my next one is probably a good year or two away, but that's OK.

I just watched Good Will Hunting, so I'm all philosophical and therapeutic.

Totally agree. Breaks are imperative for creative progression.

They used to sell for around $300 second-hand because of the wait list for a brand-new one, but they've gone down to $250 now. I'd say that's the average. Anything around $230 or below that is a good score. It's worth it. The new asking price is a bit steep, though. I paid that much plus EU taxes and mine wasn't a perfect example. Marc Skreddy and has team aren't very good when it comes to drilling holes and aligning their screen printing. But the internals, the things that matter, they're all top notch.

20 watt class D "same" tube pre amp of the tiny terror. they're teeny tiny. that can next to it in the picture of that cab is a redbull can. . . it lacks bass to me as well but thats physics. 20 watts and 1 15 isnt gonna dump out what 60 watts + 8x10 + 200 watts + horn from hell + 60 watts + 8x12 does. BUT Im thinkin of getting it modded for more bass. I know a dude who is pretty fucking amazing with SS and class D amps. I have him do up all my car audio amps and they're killer.

for what it is, its amazing. and AxAxSxS thanks for the weird shit compliment. I hate HATE "normal" rigs. I want every single piece I have be a WTF IS THAT piece.

In reference to staying fresh and unique when playing year after year, the only thing I've found that gets me out of a serious creative rut (beyond a break or focusing on a different instrument) is playing with people. Jamming, live, completely dicking around, whatever. It's all helpful to me. :thumb:
