Who here has played a vintage Gibson SB-400

I have my eyes on one, I dig the way they look in walnut and the clips I heard of one sounded good. Can anyone vouch for it? I like a good growly bass sound that has clarity, is this right for me? Think Horse Girl by These Arms Are Snakes

I've always wanted one of those.

From what I remember, those pickups definitely have clarity. Don't recall if they're particularly growly. I don't think so.

That's the one I found that had the clips, I thought they sounded pretty damn good

yeah, I think they sound good too. I like Gibson budget instruments for the most part.

If the one you're looking at isn't too much, I'd get it. Unless you're playing straight into the amp, you can use pedals to add growl.

Those models in particular are like ridiculously hit or miss so don't order it online..

In what way? The one I'm looking at says everything works fine & there's only a few cosmetic things :idk:
