I know at least a few people might be interested in some shoegaze/fuzz rock. Spent two (miserable) years on this one. Enjoy...or don't? You be the judge.

Listening now, totally digging it. It may have been two rough years, but the work is 100% apparent. Sounds great. I will totally be buying a copy. Gorgeous textures & arrangements, and excellent songs. Shoegazey, but with a really great sense of movement. Not glacial shoegazey. I mean, I dig glacial too, but it's nice to hear some jangle, sparkle and fuzz in the gaze.
Edit: yep, listened all the way through, totally dug it, purchased!
For those on a late-90's jangle/gaze trip, this is totally worth your time. The vocals fell somewhere between Lush and The Cranes (without the Cranes creepy oddness), and the songs are lovely. Nice job balancing out the bouncier/janglier material with the all-out-fuzzed-out rockers. I would love to see you guys play if you make it out to New England any time.

I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

Edit: also, your bass player does a great job of playing some active lines that don't distract from the song or the groove. Being a four-stringer who likes to be melodic myself, I really appreciate that.

That's awesome, it's great to see support, it's so helpful when you still stuck in the doldrums of fending for yourself with promotion, I appreciate that more than you can imagine. I love both the Cranes and Lush. The humbucker comment was a little reference to the first pressings of the first Queen album that had "no synthesizers where used in the making of this recording." I think the Smiths had it on their first too. That and I can't get along with humbuckers, especially with the amount of effects I use. I also fucking hate that Fender has been reissuing mustangs, Jazzmasters and Jags with humbuckers to placate the GC buying, drooling masses. Sorry, purist/elitist rant there, just my opinion. I can't really knock them though, two of my favorite guitarists ever Mick Ronson and Iommi played buckers. They just aren't for me.
Our bassist was (we have since let him go) also an incredibly talented guitarist who had a very unique rhythmic style of playing. I agree with the melodic element since I started with bass, so I tend to lean towards bassists with a melodic knack. Our drummer would disagree with groove though, he often found himself battling with the bass as Ryan is much more a leader in terms of the groove than a follower or locking in. He loves to accent the 1 and 3 which will drive drummers crazy. I think it sound really fucking cool though. He has a great rhythmic sense and our drummer is virtuoso level so they learned to push and pull and weave around each other.
Thanks for the interest, I love talking music and playing and I love that you are so in depth in your analysis. Oh, and if you like summer-y, slightly psych tinged, power pop, here's our old bassists record: it's pretty good, there are some good pop songs: http://www.sunspots1.bandcamp.com.
I played some ambient textures and noise solos on it and Jenna (our singer) designed the artwork, which I love.

Ha! It figures that I'd dig the bassist that pisses off drummers - I often do that myself.
I will definitely have to check out Sunspots... just as soon as I stop listening to "whisper"!
