Not sure what he charges for shipping, but he does have ready to ship stuff up on ebay. Not sure of lead times either as my cab was already made when I bought it

Been almost a month and a half waiting for my order to be done, tried NUMEROUS times contacting them just to hear how everything goes, nothing.. no respond on both emails & phone. I'm not rushing them up nor being anxious, but the courtesy updates with a little communication skills would be great. Just one of those company, eh?

I own numerous Emperor cabs, completely worth the wait, just exercise a little patience and hang in there. Like others have mentioned, communication could be better but I've always gotten exactly what I've ordered in the end. When it's done, you'll know it's done, no worries. They usually run pretty close to the quoted timeline, only thing that generally holds orders up is speaker choice but you shouldn't have to worry about that aspect.

Sadly, Emperor isn't the only company who could use better communication skills. I threw a whole lot more money at Electrical Guitar Company recently and their communication is no better. Simply a case a small businesses (four employee teams we're talking about here) that are completely inundated with custom orders and emails/phone calls related to those orders.

I've never heard of this speaker swapping issue actually occurring. I'd say the biggest holdup in any Emperor cab order is the wait for special order speakers. I've got five cabs, all with different speakers, and all came loaded with exactly what I ordered... :idk:

Bellyheart wrote:I wanna price range their stuff...I feel like it's not there because it's too much for me. If you don't mind, how much did you pay and what'd you get?

Pricing is extremely fair, less than most new stuff from Orange, Marshall, Mesa, Verellen, etc, etc, etc.....

Only reason it's not listed online is the custom nature of their business. Easier to let customers contact with their exact specifications, then price the order based on that info.

All of mine have come exactly as ordered as well, and I haven't heard of the speaker swapping problem either. :idk:

One of my friends started making cabs here in Syracuse, and keeps getting better:

http://www.facebook.com/OldSoulCabinets

He will build whatever you want, use whatever speakers he can get or build unloaded. Very reasonable and competitively priced, and the quality is as good as Verellen and Emperor (for both of whom his music shop--Gorham Brothers Music--is a dealer).

I would love to see him get some more business!

I assure you it is! :thumb:
I don't know if anyone here is familiar with the band Engineer, but he played guitar for them, and 3/4 of the band runs that store. He built his own 4x12 years ago and toured with that forever, well before the store opened.

Hopefully I'm wrong. Not trying to spread bad/wrong info here, I just read it in some bass forums somewhere last week (i tried to look up for it, I couldn't find that thread to paste it here) mentioned about speaker issues, and there were plenty of complaints there about it. Either way, it didn't bother me that much since I'm getting it unloaded, just a little concerned.

That's pretty much an identical backstory to that of Emperor, a company inadvertently built as a result of a genuine gear related need. 3/4 of the employees there were in Raise The Red Lantern together years ago and Dylan needed a new cab. He possessed the skills to build one and figured he'd save some $$ in the end so he experimented with several designs, eventually landing on the current offering. Things grew on word of mouth from there and that's that.

Always cool to see companies born in this fashion. BAT is another that came about in much the same way. I'm sure there are numerous others making awesome stuff cuz they needed it to begin with and powered through the ol' DIY approach to get at that stuff.

Oh no worries, I totally believe you read that and def not doubting speaker mixups can and will occur. I'd guess it was the result of an honest mistake or miscommunication tho as oppossed to Emperor just throwing any old thing in there.

I'm pretty sure that Olde Crow is in my area (BC), so you'd still probably have some decent shipping costs.

If I ever switch to head and cabs from combos (which I have been considering), I'll probably hit up Olde Crow. There was a Traynor that had been put in a custom Olde Crow headshell with a matching cab on my local Craigslist a while ago, it was pretty tempting.
