How does everyone feel about Mesa cabs? I'm in the market for some new ones and I have a line on a cheap stack.
I might end up going custom, too. Those Mammoth cabs look pretty nice.

I received this in the mail today. I'm not sure where someone was looking for reviews, but here it is anyway.



This thing is great. Everything you've seen and heard about it is bang-on the money. The sound quality is excellent, both with distortion and clean, and is every bit as good as its counterparts; arguably better. There is no signal loss or degradation when on or off. Latency is almost perfect; it's barely noticeable. Because the footswitch is soft to press, it's hard to make a mistake and miss-time your feet.

The only problem I have with it is, you can't undo overdubs further into the piece, you can only undo the most recent layer. So if you don't press undo for long enough you can actually record something, whatever your guitar is doing at the time, and then you can't undo the one you really wanted to undo. If you try to undo again you just redo the mistake. This is the limitation of such a small device.

Other than that I'm really happy. Hopefully the switch will last long enough, because I've heard they're not very rugged. The size is smaller than you'd think, the knob feels comfortable to turn, the light and sounds to distinguish where you are in the looping phase are all intuitive (though you can't see the light when you hover your foot over it), there is zero perceivable latency, and the sound quality is excellent.

I'm happy - though I did just break the nut on my new Telecaster, so yeah.

Well it's a passive pedal it would have to be completely rebuilt almost to put LEDs in there.

What 810's and 415's do you guys prefer?
I know there's only a few companies out there that made/make 415's.

Id likely just make my own matching setup if youre going that deep. I know EA makes a 4 x15 and i believe olde crow might. Emperor has too.

I've never had an issue with mesa cabs, they were just too pricey for me when i had other better options at the "new" pricepoint.. If you got a line on some cheaps then I'd say go for it. I'm surprised your not hitting up emperor looking for some used ones, but if your looking for nice quality cabs and don't mind a bit of a wait Mammoth would definitely be the way to go. His build quality is absolutely superb.

Yeah, it wasn't my amp or board so I didn't get a chance at the RAT (or much else in terms of boost/od/dirt/fuzz) but I'm sure results would've been stunning. The amp sounded so amazing and thick all on it's own though, a real jaw dropper.

What do those generally sell for used?

They have gone through phases since i got mine last year. When i decided i needed one i was on the high end, but i still got my mke120 for 450 shipped.

If you are looking for them, always search MK120, and MKE120. the MKE120 just has an effects loop, the MK120 does not.

If'n you are serious about them too, I like to make sure they are stock. They use a preamp tube (conky's are included with the amp) that isn't the most normal and some folks mod the amp to accept 12AX7s I like having it weird and russian.

On the subject of weight loss, I had lost 30lbs from about july of last year through november. I've fallen a bit out of it over the winter and gained 10 back, but I am going to kick my ass soon again. I loved how i fealt when i was working out everyday. I'm a big guy, my dad and i are built the same and I didn;t look it, but i hit 300 and just couldn;t deal with being 300 pounds so i immediately started eating differently (until Oreo release Mega creams. Cause fuck if i won;t eat 30 of those at a time. )

One question i have, and it isn;t a huge deal breaker if you can't but can i record something, stop it and then ten minutes later hit the button and start it again, or is it just a looper that you record until you stop it and then it is gone forever?

If you hit the footswitch twice fast, it'll immediately stop the playback. But you can bring that back at any time by pressing it once. I think it starts from the beginning of the loop again. I can't remember for sure.

I'm watching all of the 800's on eBay, even though I'm not selling my amp for another month or two. It's fixed now and it's all fine, just having a final go over with my tech before I will get rid, but I've had so much hassle with it. It's like a relationship that's ending or being stuck in a room with someone you know you're dumping soon.

Hmmm maybe a Sound City then? All though I'm not sure if they were plauged with gremlins like the oranges.

I've heard that a lot of people who have had or have Sound Cities LOVE them, but sometimes they can be pretty excessively noisy. There is a dude, Mr. Foxen who harvests them over in Euroland. He'd probably sort you out if you went that route
