Custom Pedal Boards?

Post by Quiet Things »

So. This is my current pedal board:

Image

And while I love the 'plywood with carpet stapled to it' look, I'd like something a little flashier, and a little more user friendly, because trying to hit the pedals at the top of my board is a pain in my goddamn ass.

At current I'm running about twenty pedals, and do not generally see myself using much less than that (if anything, there's gonna be at LEAST a couple additions in the near future), which mostly limits me to custom work. I'm fine with this, but after spending a couple hours digging around on Google last night I found very little that really fit what I'm after. I don't really want another, slightly longer, slightly sloped rectangle made out of a nicer material; I want something more...personalized? I guess. And at the end of the day, I suppose, a bit more eye catching.

So I come to you, my fellow forum dwellers, in the hopes that you can point me in the direction of people who might be able to do more 'custom' custom pedal boards. Links/thoughts/comments/etc are all appreciated!

damn
i wish i had time
to do just this
its takin forever for me to get skullys creation out
in certain aspects of life
im just to much of a perfectionist
in others im a mess
makes running a small buisness a nightmare
a propper workshop would be nice too
there was some dude that makes boards
out of chunks of really fancy woods
i think hbombs design would work for you well
and i think (edit:mudfuzz) put a double decker together too

I saw the really nice wood ones...I think it was...Throne? Something like that. Very nice, but considering I'm already lugging around like 20 or 30 pounds in pedals I don't wanna add another 20 in pedal board. I'll have to shoot hbomb and univalve messages though, thanks for the input!

you can build one pretty easily
Mine is a 24x48 with a 10inch back step which houses all the power supplies
I also added a few small risers

bottom is birch plywood
and the sides and step up are pine

I am in the process of building the lid which should make is pretty portable for the size

I already have some ideas to make the next one better

the other option for you, which is what I was using before is two medium sized boards, it works well and you can work around microphone stands and things of that nature

thanks, looking back I really wished I had done the jacks inlaid, and I may change them, found a place that sells recessed jacks.

I have to pull some stuff out to install a power inlet in the back
that way I can plug in any extension chord to power it up

That board is a monster! Nice one dude. Now I see why you guys like the basketball sneaks. Lots of fancy footwork going on with boards like that.

i bought mine from http://www.nycpedalboards.com/nyc-pedalboards/

My only complaint when i bought it was the carpet (My cat thinks it is a scratching post), but they offer tolex now. The second level riser velcros on to the base so you can move it and adapt it as necessary, and they make it perfectly sized to fit a PP2+ under it. they aren;t the cheapest, or the most expensive, but they work very nicely.

That board looks awesome hbomb. I'm curious how much it weighs. Any time I've tried to build my own board, it has ended up weighing a ton. Full disclosure: I focused on low cost, so I generally bought the cheapest materials that could do the job rather than actually considering lighter weight alternatives.
