Well, first off, the title of the thread is thisMETALband>thisMETALband.

In the specific example of WITR vs. DH: Regardless of their fanbase, I feel like WITR's music comes from a more honest place. They are/were hippies playing ritualized, spiritual, atmospheric black metal. DH on the other hand are clearly derivative of WITR. If you took the drummer from WITR and added him to Envy you would get DH. DH does nothing for me personally because it does not contain any of the spirit of metal, which is one of the things I enjoy most about this music. DH works better if you think of it as post rock or screamo, but to my ears I will always hear it as an attempt to combine a few different trendy sounds into one band.
