I used it as the booster, rather than boostee. The DLS responds remarkably well and isn't picky at all about what you run into it.
While I do use an OCD in this fashion they aren't exactly well known for reacting well being boosted by a fuzz, unless you turn the gain way down and the volume up. if you want low gain breakup it works fine but if your going for more of a jcm800 grit then the DLS is honestly probably a better choice. The whole reason I brought up the order switcher a few pages back is because over time I've come to the same conclusion as you, it likes being the booster not being the boosted. And now that I'm using the Peavey as my gigging amp I can switch to amp break up at the amp input by just pushing a channel select button (it has a clean input channel and a dirty [read hairy OD] channel) if I so desire.
Well, when i saw your burial chamber demo a while ago and we had that exchange on FB...that gave me the idea of having the OCD as the boostee...but yeah, the more i read the more it seems like its better suited to boost other pedals. The only problem, my new pedalboard until now was going to be all black and white...but the DLS has colour...that kinda sucks...I could say i have OCD for making sure colours match, but that would be a bad joke!
I'd pick up the new one personally. They have the Super Bass option built in, a midrange control and more gain. I know it's pricier, though, so I understand.

yeah, that's true...the benefit of this is that its actually really well priced compared to anything else online, and if it doesn't work out i could sell it without losing much money on it.
i wouldn't have described my ocd as scooped really. it's a great pedal. i definitely liked it in front of fuzz rather than behind it. i don't know much about the newer version of the dls, but the old one had less gain than the ocd, which might be why the ocd was described as compressing more. dls sounds great, i didn't buy one when i was in the market for distortion/overdrive type of stuff 'cause i wanted something with a bit more gain available. perhaps i'll check out this new version if i'm looking for that type of pedal again.

Yeah im not fussed with the MK1 but this one is a revised MK1 which has a mid boost dip switch inside and it sounds pretty much like the Mk2...it has noticebly more gain then the standard Mk1's
DLS is a JFET thing like the GT120 OD and the Murder Two. They dont use diodes for clipping (well i will have an option to swing some in) so the clipping is all from overdriving subsequent stages which results in much less clipping compared to diodes. Of course they are also much more sensitive to supply voltage like a tube amp is.

I'll see if I can post a clip of my MkII getting boosted by several fuzzes.
I'll put together Pharaoh, Ritual, Oath, HM2, and Dirt Transmitter, and I'll try not to be embarrassed by my playing.
i cant wait for this and dont be embarrassed its gonna be a sick demo thats the point right awesome

Ok...so thats the reason for the smoother sound, the fact that there are no diods? As opposed to something like an OCD?
Just got a new amp. Had my eye on these awhile now, each one is spec'd slightly different, $625 shipped. Just got the fatty tax return, finally said fuck it.
Hovercraft Dwarvenaut 20W. 2xEL84, sounds thick as shit, described as a Sunn Model T hi gain circuit mashed with some Matamp for good measure. This particular build is closest to the one featured in youtube demo below but has an added FAC control for more flexibility. Controls on the front include gain/bass/mid/treble/master/HF drive.
