Moog Rogue or Moog Sub-Phatty? I can't decide....
So umm.... yeah... my band is kinda taking an electronic direction with some of our music and seems I'm going to be playing bass guitar and bass synth. So I've been contemplating with going analog bass synth or a midi controller based softsynth, since we do most sound design and arrangement in ableton I figured softsynth would be easiest as I can just make my own session file and transfer over the sounds and everything, but the I realized 90% of the time we use a Moog based bass sound and then just add distortion or reverb on top of it, and I do much better with a physical unit in front of me. So yeah I'm rambling, back on topic..... I'm looking at both of these synths, I prefer the dirty tone of the Rogue but it doesn't have presets and remembering exact settings for each song could get overwhelming, the sub-phatty seems to have 90-95% of the tone but with another oscillator and alot more tweakability plus the ability to store 16 presets and be a softsynth midi controller if necessary. Sounds like a clear choice right? Well if I get the rogue I might have enough moey left over to get a Moog delay.... Which would definitely come in handy and finish off that pedalboard.... GAH! Help....

Sub Phatty. You won't have to worry about how old the Rogue is, recalling presets, changing settings on the fly, etc etc. I know the Moog Delay is amazing, but for the sake of being able to play more easily, Sub Phatty.
Also I hate you
Just kidding ily

I've got a Rogue. I love it. I'm doing mainly Sunn type drones with it, so that kind of negates the need for presets.
I haven't played with the Sub, but I've played with a regular Phatty (TWSS) and it's got some great tones.
I like my Rogue for how quirky it is, but admittedly, you can do pretty much the same thing with the Lil' Phatty, so I can only imagine what you could do with the Sub version.
I'd say the Sub Phatty for what you'll be doing with it.

Thanks for the replys guys! I'm leaning toward the sub phatty at the moment, i need the recallable presets. Allisnoise, that's exactly why i want a Rogue, for the Sunn type drones but sadly I don't think that will work in my bands current context. It would be more for my own personal pleasure. Derelict, I LOVE that video and Adrian Utley is a big hero of mine in many ways. The problem is the minibrute doesn't have presets either, which is a total bummer as he definitely makes it sound amazing.
And Skully your gonna hate me more for what I will have to give up to afford this....

Oh no, thats not going anywhere
I gotta sell the baritone Jag and a P-bass....
They are the only things not getting used in the band at the moment that I'm willing to sell and can come close to the value of the subphatty.

YOU HAD ME SO SCARED hahahah
I think it's a smart move though- as much as having a baritone is nice, if you aren't using it for the band then a Sub Phatty will look mighty fine on your desk

Exactly, plus if I do go back to baritone I really want a custom offset built thats neck through, 28" scale, string through body, maple with block inlay wide flat fretboard, black hardware, and stained body. So in other words, not cheap hahaha Guh I need to stop watching subphatty videos...

From Moog:
NEW IN MINITAUR REV 2:
• Store 100 presets to Minitaur's internal memory.
• A new Decay/Release mode allows for independent control of Decay and Release times from Minitaur's front panel.
•Pitch, Volume and Gate Controller inputs can be re-mapped to other control parameters.
•Minitaur can now act as a CV to MIDI converter.
