My amp doesn't get crazily dirty until you crank it and I can't really do that, but I just tried it on max gain (which is heavy OD but not metal distortion or anything) and the DT sounds fine. Had the tone knob around 10/11, much higher and it did get messier a bit too bright, but with the tone low it sounded good, not really that different to how it is after dirt. I don't mind things being a bit dirty though, so if you want super clear repeats I'd still look elsewhere, like using amp effects loops.

I run my mljr into my amp and it sounds fine. OR AWESOME

But if you don't want a rumbly sound, it sounds like you want less lows in yo delay. I think el caps and memory boy deluxes have a high pass filter sort feature which could help.

This is why I've only owned (as primary, non-special purpose) amps that had an effects loop if there was a dirty channel on it.

Same reason I prefer amps that stay blisteringly, stupid clean on their own.

Can't take away dirt from the amp if that's all it does, but I can add it all day long.

If I had to use a dirty-type amp with no effects loop, Echoplex or Space Echo all day long.

Space Echo probably, not because I'd be able to use the multihead functions but because of the many tweakable I/O settings to maximize the chance of it not shitting out on me.
