ILF member LaoWiz built me this badass Multiplex Echo Machine inside one of his killer etched enclosures. It's a kit by 1776 effects, super cool tape echo style delay. 3 modes to emulate a Binson, Roland Space Echo, and Echoplex plus a momentary stomp to increase and decrease tape speed for the whacked out delay. I like it, lots!

It is great to see that the doom room is still alive. I used to post in the HC one on occasion.

I desperately need to replace the tubes in my Electric amp. Has anyone ever tried 6ca7s in place of el34s? They have piqued my interest.

conky wrote:Thanks for the positive feedback on that demo clip guys. I appreciate it. It seems like I'm finally getting to do the shit I hear in my head with a band who is into the same style of music I am.

If I had a Model T (even the reissue) offered for my Redbear plus some cash I'd do it in a heartbeat. I know it isn't supposedly anything like the originals but I kinda liked the cleans on the combo I tried once and wouldn't mind having one to fuck around with. Stupid me you say? Well, I have two Redbears sitting around collecting dust so I would be cool with letting one of em go. :poke:

I would buy a Red Bear in a heart beat if you are inclined to sell.

LaoWiz's etch's always turn out amazing, love his aesthetic so much and such a killer dude. I've also heard great things about that 1776 delay, the binson and echorec settings are supposedly pretty spot on killer. So overall SWEET SCORE!!!! :joy: :omg: :!!!:

yes I have and they are really nice. I have used the JJ 6ca7s and i love them. Also to my knowledge Conky has used the EHX 6ca7s and he likes them as well. Drop in replacements with just a rebias

nightterrors wrote:It's REALLY hard being in a band in Canada and trying to get to the States for shows even if you don't have legal issues. It got to the point where me and my buddies had to travel in separate cars to get over the border and meet up at the show to play.

And you can't make arrangements to be at a show by 5PM when you're stuck in customs for hours on end. Most musicians, like yourselves, can't afford to come a night in advance, so they need to drive there and back in one sitting. It really is destructive for the music industry, especially since you hear of little crime going on between the borders of Canada and the US. Obviously there is shit going on, but it's not exactly the Gaza strip.

nightterrors wrote:it used to be very easy, then it got hit or miss, and now it's nearly impossible (from here to the US anyways) as a band.
Man oh man, I can't tell you how many times our van was searched. The last time, before we started going over separately... they told us if we were caught in the same vehicle again, they'd "keep us" for "12 hours" and we'd be banned etc...
a couple of my buddies have been banned from going over because they went over as a band with their gear. I remember the one time, literally 10 border guards surrounded our car and were yelling all these random orders at us, we sit inside the building for like 3 hours, they interrogate all of us, Then they say my one buddy said we were selling t-shirts, which later we found out he didn't say that and the border-guard just made it up.
I just don't get it, any money we would have made (if any) probably would have gone to food/gas while we were there anyways.

To clarify as well.... : none of us did drugs, had drugs or alcohol or anything like that, no criminal records, all born in Canada.

Why do they give such a shit? Why is it such a big deal to travel together?

I think the new pickups make the guitar look a lot better, and it was already awesome and very unique before.

Sweet. I saw a load of his stuff for sale. They looked great. I'll have to look up that pedal; seems interesting.

I haven't made any clips but it sounds amazing!

Here's 1776's demo tho, give you a general idea of the sounds within. Oh, I'm about to reply to that PM as well.

Yeah, LaoWiz is my absolute fave in terms of aesthetics. He has a weathered + etched DBA + old school EHX vibe going on, shit looks NICE! His builds and prices are excellent to boot. About to set him loose on a handful of new builds and a couple enclosures to use for rehousing :thumb:

Yeah, I bought his Foxx Tone Machine clone from that B/S/T sale. Lucky I snagged it quick cuz some dude swooped in and bought nearly everything he posted all at once.

Guessing the doomers are the most knowledgeable about amps so I present you guys: an amp question!

I'm probably picking up a solid state Laney Klipp Lead/Bass. But the seller doesn't know the output impedance (is it called that?) and it isn't stated on the backpanel of the amp. So I don't know what cab I could pair it with. I was hoping to run it with a 4 ohm cab, but if it has an output impedance of 8 ohm this is impossible I guess (at least that's what I've always been told)? Soooo, is there any way to find out what the output impedance is?

Couldn't just ask a question without contributing even a little bit I guess, here's a classic:

you can run the amp at any impedance, if its SS. It will adjust to whatever impedance u use. I would not go lower than 4 ohms tho as you will stress the power amp
